Scarletpaw's Hunting Patrol

Emberheart led the way to her favorite hunting spot, hoping that with the extra set of paws that was her apprentice they could bring back more prey. "Alright, Scarletpaw. This is where we'll be hunting today. Tell me, can you scent any prey?"

OOC: You roll the hunting dice once and use this page to tell whether or not you caught something, and edit your post to either catch it or fail.

Scarletpaw smelled a scent of mice. Spotting the familiar fur, she crouched down as best as she could, and took an enormous leap toward the rodent, claws unsheathed. Her claws struck their target and the mouse immediately fell limp in her claws. Scarletpaw sniffed the prey satisfactedly, and brought it back to Emberheart.

Emberheart nodded encouragingly. "That's how you do it. Okay, now bury it," she instructed, "and watch."

Emberheart scanned the trees, and once she saw what she was looking for she scrambled up the nearest tree, keeping a close eye on her prey, and as the squirrel leapt down so did she. Luckily, she landed practically on top of it, and it was simple enough to kill it swiftly and put it with Scarletpaw's mouse. "I'm not going to ask you to try that. It's probably too complicated," she admitted. "Just do what comes naturally to you, okay?"

Scarletpaw felt tempted to copy what Emberheart had done, but she just nodded. "What do I do now?"

"Like I said. Whatever comes naturally to you. See what you can find, and I think if we each get one more piece of prey we can head home," Emberheart purred.

Scarletpaw felt happy. Today had been a wonderful day. She had made her mentor proud of her, and had not failed miserably in hunting and battle practice. Suddenly a strong smell of squirrel hit her nose. Desperate to please her mentor one more time, and to bring back a good fat piece of fresh-kill to feed the Clan, Scarletpaw quickly spotted the fur of her prey and began stalking up to it. Her claws struck the neck of the squirrel and killed it instantly. Bursting with pride, Scarletpaw picked up the squirrel and brought it back to Emberheart
