Training for Fun (Closed)

Apprentices were the future of the clan. If trained properly, they would make the clan great. If trained insufficiently, they could lead to a clan of idiots. Nutfur was determined to make her clan great, and training the younger population seemed like the best way to go. She quickly looked around the warrior's den for another cat to help her out, and spotted Sweetheart. They had become friends of some sort since the rescue, and she trusted the young warrior to help drill better thoughts into the head of apprentices. If she was available, she would be the perfect cat to help train some apprentices. After quickly rousing and asking the other she-cat if she could help, the chestnut colored warrior walked out into the center of camp and looked around. Patrols were just being organized, so she would need to pick out some cats quickly. Pace hurried, she padded over to the apprentice den, not looking for any cat in particular, just wanting to train a few apprentices. She stuck her head into the small den, looking at the few remaining apprentices. Just three of four would be enough. "Any of you want to do some extra training? I'll try to make it fun."

"Sure!" a voice perked out.  Heronpaw jumped out of his nest and watched the she-cat.  His gray fur looked sleek, as he, among other cats, was well-fed. "Can we go hunting too?" he asked.

Sweetheart yawned and padded out of the warriors' den with Nutfur. She loved spending time with the younger cats in RiverClan, so of course she agreed to help her friend, whom she hoped would grow closer to her as a friend.

Spotpaw sat curtly with his tail laid on his paws. "I suppose I'll come, if you even want me." He said monotone. He didn't even care anymore. They probably didn't want him on the inside, even if they did say he could come.

Heronpaw heard Spotpaw's gloomy tone in his voice. "Sure! You're a great friend!" he said to Spotpaw.

Brightpaw padded out of the apprentice den, all the pride missing from his stance. The gloominess in Spotpaw’s voice made him flinch, all his guilt doubled instantly. Because he was such a coward not to speak his mind, his own brother was now paying the price. He wordlessly padded over to the group, dipping his head in greeting. ”Hope you don’t mind if I tag along,” He said, his voice almost a whisper. Even though I’m an untrustworthy, cowardly snake. He felt like adding on, but he kept silent, forced his gaze upwards from the floor, and sat down in front of the warrior. He could easily hide how he felt.

Great Starclan, Titanium! We need to take it down a notch! Spotpaw even considered jumping in the gorge.

Spotpaw blinked. He was a good friend? That was new. "I suppose I'm coming then.
" He said with a hint of surprise. Then Brightpaw walked over. He tilted his head. "Did you lose your voice? You're sort of quiet. And of course we don't mind. Well... I don't, at least. I... I like being with my brother sometimes, you know." His voice quieted closer to the end. He stood up and walked over towards his brother and the warrior. He wanted to be closer to his brother than this.

Fogpaw shyly walked over and joined them. He didn't say anything because he was too shy. He was excited deep down though.

"Great! Let's get going!" Nutfur smiled as the four apprentices walked up to her and Sweetheart. Four was a good number, and could be easily split into teams. She was glad for Heronpaw's energy, with the other three being either to shy or too sad to be as bubbly. This was probably because of the recent clan-wide argument. Just another downside of the war. The warrior lead them out of camp, crossing through the reeds and once again walking on solid ground. Hurrying past Sunningrocks, they ended up at open patch of grassy land. This would be perfect for what she had in mind. Quickly, she waltzed into the center of the clearing and looked at the other five cats she had brought along.
"We are going to do a training exercise that is rather different than what you are used to," she began, looking at the apprentices each directly. "This one is to test, strategy, teamwork, reflexes, and strength. There will be two teams. One will be at the center of the clearing and surround the stone. The other team will try to over power the first team and steal the the stone. But because we are all clanmates, no claws. Understand?" She waited a moment, letting everything she had just said sink in. After she was pretty sure that everyone had caught on, she continued. "Fogpaw, Heronpaw, you join me. We will be the team that protects the stone. Brightpaw and Spotpaw, you join Sweetheart to try to steal the stone. We can have a little while to plan, then we'll start." After assigning the teams, the brown she-cat picked up a stone in her jaws and trotted over to the center of the clearing. After setting it down, she gestured with her tail for the two apprentices to follow her. She had purposely put Spotpaw with Brightpaw and Sweetheart, knowing he could use a little cheering up and sibling bonding.

Sweetheart purred with content. She was glad she was pared with Spotpaw, she truly did like him a lot. She led the brothers over to the bushes that rimmed the open space. "So, do you two have any ideas? I was thinking we could make a diversion, distract all three cats at once by battling close to them so a third cat can sneak in from behind to steal the stones. Do you two have any ideas to make this plan work better?"

IC: Spotpaw thought about this, slightly unnerved that Nutfur had paired him with his brother. There was probably a reason for it. "Which of us would be the fastest, most agile, smallest...
Those of us that are bigger and stronger are going to be good for distractions. Could work either way, really."

Heronpaw walked to Nutfur and Fogpaw and helped discuss what the strategy will be. "Okay, so we have to guard the stone. Nutfur, could you stand above the stone, or is it impossible?" he whispered.

OOC: Autocorrect almost changed "Heronpaw" to "Hero paw" - many times

Fogpaw softly walked over to Nutfur and Heronpaw. He gave them a smile. He didn't care what "job" he was given.
