Battle of the Disabled Feathers (CLOSED)

Head low and tail drooped and dragging in the snow behind her, Fernfeather slowly padded over to the Thunderpath that separated WindClan from ShadowClan. It may not have been the same exact spot, but this was the very Thunderpath where she lost her left eye to that StarClan-cursed Twoleg thing. Sure, she may have rescued and adopted an amnesiac kit there, and it was great to know that she had saved an innocent life, but knowing that she would forever be limited from being the best WindClan warrior she could be really hurt.

She was growing very tired, very quickly. It was becoming increasingly difficult to keep up her sharade of fake happiness and false cheer. As an apprentice, she was one of the most lively and eager WindClanners to have been born, and it hurt that no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't replicate that same genuine cheer. Sure, there may be things in life that made her happy, like Squirrelpaw exceeding her expectations during training or Softpaw coming out of his shell to make friends, but she would never be as happy as she was before the Thunderpath incident.

(OOC: So I have two ideas as to how the battle plays out: either Fernfeather, too lost in thought, unknowingly wanders into ShadowClan territory and is challenged by Curlyfeather, or Curlyfeather accidentally hunts over the border and Fernfeather decides to take out all her frustrations out on Curlyfeather in a battle. Which do you prefer? Or do you have a different idea? :3)

OOC: The first option seems more likely, ever since an incident as an apprentice Curly is careful to not cross Thunderpath borders. Fern wouldn't even have to go far, just halfway across and Curly wouldn't hesitate to attack. She also has quite a few frustration she would take out on an opponent.

IC: Curlyfeather let out a sigh of relief as she passed Fourtrees, no longer having to be anywhere near ThunderClan territory. That place held bad memories that she would be better off forgetting. The memory from a little over a moon ago shone clear in her mind, the silhouette of a bird before the huge cream colored paw smacked across her face, turning her vision dark and splotched with red. She shook her earless head, trying to get the horrible memory out of her mind. The less she had to think about Sharpfang or whatever her name was, the better. Now she had passed Fortress and only the small stretch of WindClan territory was left to patrol. She didn't have many strong feelings about that clan, so preferred not to spend any time worrying over them. That was exactly what she had planned on doing, until she saw the gray warrior. Instantly, she was on alert, but kept silent, preferring not to talk whenever possible. Ever since her injury, it had just felt wrong to not hear herself when she talked, and she wanted to avoid that. So she just walked slower, keeping her blue gaze fixed on the enemy warrior.

Too deep in thought to really concentrate on what she was doing, she padded out onto the Thunderpath. Why did this have to happen to her? She did nothing wrong. She paid attention to Quailfeather during her teachings. She didn't give away any secrets during Gatherings. She didn't even fall in love with any cat so she could focus solely on being the best warrior she could be! So why did StarClan punish her this way?

She was completely unaware of where she was headed to, nor did she know of the ShadowClan warrior who carefully watched her from the shadows as she approached the border.

Curlyfeather would have been completely content with letting the WindClan warrior just go along on her way, neither of them having to even acknowledge each others presence. That idea was completely ruined when she stepped onto the Thunderpath. In an instant, she sprinted to the edge of the Thunderpath, hackles raised. She stared intently at the she-cat's every paw step, up until she crossed the yellow line at the middle of the black strip of stone. Now she was closer to ShadowClan territory than WindClan territory. In her mind, that was trespassing. A growl rumbled at the back of her throat. Who did this cat think she was? "Hey! Get back to your moors!"
The anger at not hearing her own voice was enough to push Curlyfeather over the edge. Her claws unsheathed as her paws switched from muddy terrain to the hard stone, blue eyes fixed on the half-blind enemy. That was no reason to go easy on her. She had grown up half deaf and turned out fine, and now was completely deaf for StarClan's sake! The only mercy she would show was to spare the poor cat's life. Hissing furiously, she barreled into her opponent, using all her body weight to knock the she-cat off her feet and send her skidding a tail-length across the path. She lashed her tail angrily. No one invaded ShadowClan territory on her watch.

Fernfeather never knew what hit her until it was too late. She crashed down onto the hard black stone with a squeaky huff as the air was knocked out of her. She stared wide-eyed at the warrior, and suddenly she recalled scenting ShadowClan through the stench of the Thunderpath. How could she have been so stupid and mindless? She knew she should just apologize for trespassing on accident and head back to the moor.

If it was a battle this cat wanted, it would be a battle she'd get.

It seemed her inner frustrations had different plans, and she listened to them. She rose back up on her paws and yowled in fury as she pounced at Curlyfeather, pinning her down on the Thunderpath on her belly. Digging her claws into her shoulders, she began scoring her hind claws down her back.

Fernfeather used Leap-and-Hold on Curlyfeather, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Curlyfeather is Pinned for two turns.

Curlyfeather hissed and bucked, spitting and growling in rage. The WindClan warrior seemed to be asking for a fight, seeing as she was the one who crossed the border. As she did everything she could to be freed, she felt a sense of deja vu. This was similar to what happened the time her hearing was taken from her. She needed to win this.

As Fernfeather kept the warrior beneath her pinned, she began slashing her raised paws' claws into her opponent's shoulders and back wildly.

Fernfeather used Rear-Up to Slash on Curlyfeather, dealing 11 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Curlyfeather let out a yowl of pain she couldn't hear as her stomach was clawed, but fury lit the fire of determination in her bright blue eyes. This cat would fall at her claws. Angered and powered by fear of loosing, she hurtled herself at the gray warrior, but instead of clawing her, dodged slightly to the right. Not even pausing first, she leapt onto her opponent's back, claws creating thin rivers of blood as she raked the cat's spine and shoulders, no trace of mercy in her mind. This cat was reminding her way too much of Sharpfang. She hated it. At that moment, she wanted this cat to die. All her frustration and thirst for revenge was being taken out right then.

Fernfeather snarled in pain and fury as she struggled fiercely underneath Curlyfeather's hold. Her tail lashed and thumped hard against the Thunderpath, and she glared in uncharacteristic rage up at the opposing warrior.

(OOC: If Curlyfeather ends up winning, you can permanently break Fernfeather's tail if you'd like, or she could just get her tail run over by a monster. I'm guessing you don't want anything serious done to Curlyfeather if Fernfeather wins. XD)

OOC: Okay. Curly has already been permanently scarred in many ways by Sharptooth, so I don't want to much more for her to have to bear.

IC: Mind still consumed by the burning fires of rage, Curlyfeather slipped off of the WindClan warrior and landed on the hard stone. Using her small build to her advantage, she dove underneath her opponent, turning on her back and slicing her unsheathed claws through the she-cat's underbelly, tearing mercilessly until blood dripped down in streams. She scrambled to her feet and shot back up, preparing for her next strike. This cat was going to pay.

Fernfeather stumbled back to her paws, but she was far from finished with this cat. Well, actually, she was just about to finish her up. She howled in fury as she leaped at Curlyfeather once more, claws outstretched and teeth bared. She collided into the ShadowClan warrior and sent her flying and skidding across the Thunderpath back into her own territory.

Fernfeather used Jumping Strike, dealing 10 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Fernfeather panted heavily after dealing the final blow. That would surely teach ShadowClan not to mess with WindClan!

...Great StarClan. What did she just do?! Now that the fury of battle had faded away, she was able to fully realize just what she had done. She just attacked a completely deaf cat and beaten her, and she was the one who trespassed in the first place! Oh, stars, what was wrong with her? She began to slowly approach Curlyfeather, ready to apologize.

The black stone beneath her began to rumble, and a deafening roar sounded from behind her. She whipped around and stared wide-eyed at the hungry glowing eyes of an oncoming monster. With a yelp, she dashed back across the Thunderpath to WindClan's side.

Then she heard a massive crunch, and her tail was engulfed in excruciating pain. She was streaking so fast she hardly stopped when one of the monster's massive black paws rolled right over her long fluffy tail, and she heard and felt bones pop and flesh rip as her tail tore free from the rest of her body. She crashed into her side of the Thunderpath with a high-pitched wail of agony, flailing around as her crushed, bloodied tail lay like crowfood in the middle of the Thunderpath.

(OOC: A little excessive, but I'm on a quest to make sure Fernfeather's in as much pain and despair as possible XD)
