Sweet Reeds (CLOSED)

Sweetheart knew she had to forget Scorchfang and move on. It was just like Honeydrop said: nothing but trouble would come from their relationship if they continued their secret meetings at Fourtrees. Of course, she still wanted to know what it was like to be loved by another cat. She was borderline desperate for another tom's love for her.

That's when Reedpaw caught her gaze as he padded by.

She's talked to him a few times before. She really did like him. He was a strong and loyal cat, and quite a handsome cat at that. Sure, he was young, but he would grow. Then they could have kits together.

Her belly suddenly panged with a sharp pain, but she quickly shrugged it off.

Sweetheart approached Reedpaw with a kind smile. "Hi, Reedpaw. I was wondering if you'd like to go hunting with me."

Reedpaw padded towards the elders' den and delivered the nesting material to the retired cats. He sat down on his haunches for a quick grooming session as he would imagine he looked quite disheveled. The dark tabby licked a stray tuft of fur back into place on his tail as he heard a soft voice. "Hello Sweetheart." The offer was an odd one, at least to Reedpaw, as he was still young and sort of naive. "Of course!" Nonetheless he accepted it because hunting was one of his favorite activities. "Where would you like to go?" Lady's choice. He mewed the last part with a cheesy smile.

OoC: If cats can do a cheesy smile. -le shrug-

Sweetheart purred. He was rather cute, and very chivalrous. "Well, why don't we head to Sunningrocks? I can't remember the last time I visited there."

(OOC: Well, I'm starting to include smiles for the cats now, soooo XD)

"Sounds like a great place to hunt." Reedpaw nodded to the suggestion. The tom started towards the exit of camp. He was excited to hunt.

Sweetheart followed Reedpaw out of camp, and they both arrived at Sunningrocks soon after. The place looked so peaceful, as it a war hadn't just broken out between RiverClan and ThunderClan. She pushed the memories away; they would only distract her from her hunt.

"I'm going to practice my land hunting," Sweetheart meowed. With a smile to the apprentice, she set off in search for her first prey.

After a bit of scouring she finally located a black crow smacking a snail shell against a rock with one of its small talons. She licked her lips as she stalked towards it. She pounced at it, but the crow spotted her just in time to let out a call of alarm and take flight. She hissed in frustration as she landed on the ground where the prey had been just seconds ago.

ic: Reedpaw and Sweetheart reached Sunningrocks.  Though he knew that this was RiverClan territory it was a place of controversy, and so the young cat stayed on the lookout for anything that didn't look right.  The dark tabby nodded when Sweetheart declared that she would do some land hunting, "That's good plan.  I think I might do the same."  Reedpaw stalked off his with mouth slightly open to catch any scent of a mouse, or bird, or squirrel.  A mouse or a bird would be preferable, as squirrel left a funny taste in his mouth afterwards.  He stayed low to the ground, but froze in his spot when he heard rustling.  The creature making the rustling had to be a mouse, and with the scent that Reedpaw caught through the wind, it was definitely a mouse.  He began to creep towards the pile of leaves, and when the mouse emerged he pounced, but Reedpaw overshot his leap and missed the mouse by a tail-length. "Mouse-dung!" He said quietly in order to not scare other prey away.

"Why does land hunting have to be so difficult?" Sweetheart huffed to herself, searching for more prey. She found a toad resting on one of the warm rocks and grimaced. She didn't particularly like the taste of frog or toad -- at least frog tasted a little better in comparison -- but this was leaf-bare, and the Clan needed to eat whatever they could. She crouched and stalked towards it, and when she pounced she landed on its back. She bent down to give the back of its neck a sharp nip, and then she carried the limp fresh-kill over to the edge of Sunningrocks where she buried it in snow. At least she was able to catch something on land.

A squawk from a small sparrow drew Reedpaw's eyes up into the trees, but before he could react the bird came after him.  "What in StarClan?" The winged creature flew higher in order to dive at him again, and so the tom got ready to knock it out of the sky, but miscalculated his paw and the bird knocked into his head. "Ow!" He yowled, and hauled his tail away from the angry little critter.

Sweetheart's eyes widened at her Clanmate's sharp cry, and at first she stood there completely dumbfounded that prey was attacking predator. She narrowed her eyes and rushed over to his aid, swiping at the sparrow with claws unsheathed. She hit her target, thwacking it out of the sky and sending it skidding along the ground, stunned. She leaped on top of it and dealt the killing bite, making it go limp.

Turning back to Reedpaw, she smiled kindly at him, though she couldn't stop a purr of laughter from rising in her throat. "Are you okay, Reedpaw?"
