Upon finding the poppy he needed, Cloudstone half-trotted back to his patient with an older ivy leaf in his jaws, which held a few of the tiny, black seeds. He placed the leaf before Duckpaw's muzzle, careful so as not to spill them. "Duckpaw, these seeds will help with the pain. Eat them. The snow should numb it until they take effect. If you wish, you can stay here instead of returning to your den." He quickly checked over her splint again to ensure it was still tightly attached to her leg. "Your leg was definitely broken. The splint should help the bone heal straight. Until that happens, you shouldn't exert yourself. As long as you're careful you may patrol as normal as long as the splint doesn't come off or becomes loose. " The tom frowned when he realized the other apprentice hadn't returned yet.

"Stonepaw?" He called through the den's entrance.

"Coming!" the grey tom muttered through the shell he had gripped with his teeth. His muscles were beginning to ache, but he pushed through it. He was just outside Cloudstone's den when he heard the tom's call. Careful not to lose any of the snow he had gathered, Stonepaw slipped through the entrance and placed the shell down on the floor. "What else do you need, Cloudstone?" he asked the medicine cat, his voice ever so slightly strained with weariness.

Duckpaw nodded slowly in response to Cloudstone's words. She was relieved that she wasn't completely confined to camp, but she was also terrified. What if the splint became loose? If she went on a patrol, what if she injured her leg even more? What if something else happened that made her injury permanent? The she-cat wanted so badly to make a contribution to her Clan, especially since they had just finished fighting in a battle, but it would be hard to do so with a broken leg. Her fear would keep her back. Was she even a proper RiverClan cat if she couldn't use all of her legs to carry out normal tasks. Sinking her claws into the nest, Duckpaw simply let out a quiet sigh.
