Darkpaw saw the vole and got in the hunters crouch. She stalked the creature until close enough then pounced landing directly on it. She killed it with one bite and brought it back to sweetheart to show.

"Fantastic! Not even I could catch land prey on my first try!" Sweetheart praised. "Come to think of it, I've never caught land prey at all." She detected a scent of mouse a few tail-lengths away. Deciding to test her skills again, she crouched down and stalked up towards it before pouncing.

Right before she reached it, a large owl swooped down and scooped it up. After depositing the now dead prey in a tree safe from the cats, it flared up its wings with a screech before diving back towards them.

Sweetheart hissed and pounced in front of Darkpaw to protect her, just barely missing the creature's cruel talons. "Guess I still can't catch land prey..."

Darkpaw noticed a russel in the leaves and saw a animal she had never seen come out. "umm sweetheart what's that?" she asked scared.

"That's called an owl. Thankfully they aren't nearly as strong as badgers or foxes. I heard of a pair of ThunderClan apprentices bringing one down and eating it as fresh-kill once. Maybe we can do the same." She leaped up at the owl and scored her claws down its belly.

Darkpaw wasn't ready for when the owl attacked her so when it did she fell backwards. She felt her fur getting sticky and looked down to see a bloody scratch in her side. She felt dizzy but had enough poser for one attack. When the owl came back around she raked at its belly this time being angry with it.

Sweetheart leaped up at the owl with a snarl as she bared her teeth and gnashed her teeth into its throat, snapping its bones and causing it to fall limp. She panted heavily as she took a step back, her legs trembling.

Darkpaw limped to the dead owl. "wow cool." she said then fell over. She was loosing a lot of blood and couldn't see straight her vision was becoming blurry. She closed her eyes but it didn't help and the pain in her side kept going.

OOC: FYI I'm not killing her just trying to make an injury what it is lol

"Darkpaw!" Sweetheart yowled in alarm. She raced to the apprentice's side and began to gently lick her wound.

She remembered what Goldenpaw had done for Stormpaw and Vixenstep when they were injured by that fox that one time. She had used cobweb to slow the bleeding, but she didn't have any here, and she surely didn't have time to run off and try to find some. Gaining a sudden idea when she looked down at the snow, she scooped up a large pawful and pressed it against Darkpaw's wound. The snow was instantly stained red and began to melt to the warmth of the blood, so she continued reapplying snow until finally the bleeding slowed to a stop.

"There, that should keep you from bleeding out on our way back to camp," Sweetheart sighed in relief. She then looked over at the owl. It would feed RiverClan for a few sunrises. And with the lingering fear of something terrible about to come she knew they would all need their strength. But at the same time, her Clanmate was hurt. She quickly decided that Clanmates came first and fresh-kill came second. Maybe she can come back and pick up the owl after dropping the apprentice off in the medicine den.

Sweetheart gently nuzzled Darkpaw up on her paws. "Come on, let's get you patched up."
