The Sky vs the River (CLOSED)

Foxhunter guided his apprentice with serious and emotionless eyes, without saying much. He was more focused on his duties rather than bonding with the young tom but that didn't mean he didn't care for him. "Mark the territory on that side, Buzzardpaw.
I'll do it by this side and then we can go. Be careful with the ice." He mewed referring to the frozen river in front of them. They didn't know if it was strong enough to handle the weight of a cat and Skyclan cats weren't swimmers, like Riverclan cats. And thinking about them...

Foxhunter's ears pricked when he heard the noise of branches breaking on the other side. He turned his head to the Riverclan territory as he smelled the air... a patrol was near.

Darkpaw bounded ahead of splashwillow. She was so excited to be out of camp she couldn't stay still. She ran in circles around splashwillow until she got bored then walked with the warrior. She smelled the air and smelled a skyclan patrol. "splashwillow there is a patrol." she said and looked at the warrior to see what they would do.

Buzzardpaw nodded eagerly and bounded towards the river. He marked right along the shore of the river, making sure to step only on thawed-out patches of ground. Once the pebbles slipped a little, but Buzzardpaw bounced to the side, avoiding the miniature landslide. Once he was done marking, he turned back to Foxhunter, who was staring intently at RiverClan territory, brows furrowed. Buzzardpaw joined his mentor slowly, and sniffed the air. It wasn't too strong a scent, but it was distinctly RiverClan. He unsheathed his claws and they sank into the frozen ground beneath his feet. The fur on his ginger-tipped tail rose, as it did on the rest of his body. He was extremely territorial. "Foxhunter, is that a RiverClan patrol?" he asked tensely.

Chilly weather such as this always made Splashwillow feel admittedly slow in comparison to her younger Clanmates- with each passing moon it felt like the youthful energy she once had when she was an apprentice seemed to seep away. But at least she could still enjoy patrolling with other cats who still clung to the vibrant energy. Shaking away the light dusting of snow that had collected upon her shoulders and spine, the calico Warrior let out a soft mrrow of amusement as Darkpaw bounded around her in eager circles for several long heartbeats as they made their way towards the lightly frozen River. The closer they came to the exposed Riverbank, the more uncomfortable she became- Leafbare always left everything so...exposed.

At Darkpaw's words, Splashwillow tilted her head slightly to gaze at the younger she-cat with a thoughtful gaze. "So there is." She mewed after a moment of carefully scanning the opposite bank with slightly narrowed eyes, "But as long as they stay where they belong, we should pay them no mind." The Calico finished with a tense sweep of her tail, unblinking antsy gaze remaining trained upon the cats that resided upon the opposite side of the river.

The tom nodded quietly answering his apprentice's question. They were just an apprentice and a warrior, just like them, but he could still feel the tension between the two sides. For a former tribe cat like him it was hard to understand that clan pride about territory but now he was part of Skyclan, he had to act as a warrior, not a prey-hunter.

Foxhunter continued walking next to the river, keeping an eye on the two cats until his experienced nose and ears noticed the presence of a white hare running from his territory to the frozen river. His instincts as a hunter made him act without thinking about the consequences. The spotted tom jumped into the prey when it was crossing the river and, hopefully, the ice didn't break under his paws. However, the other two Riverclan cats could consider that catch as theirs since he hunted in the middle of water border.  The warrior picked up the large animal on his jaws, not caring about the other patrol and walked toward his apprentice proud of his catch. This would help the clan during this harsh leafbare where prey is scarce.

Buzzardpaw's eyes widened in fear. "Foxhunter, no!" he half whispered, half yelled. But it was too late. Buzzardpaw's mentor was on the ice, hare in mouth. He wondered if Foxhunter's lax attitude towards Clan boundaries had anything to do with his Tribe upbringings. But now wasn't the time to wonder about that, he reminded himself and turned fearfully to the RiverClan patrol. "Urm... I-it was a-an accident..." His fur involuntarily fluffed up, betraying to the RiverClanners that he was ready to fight, despite his fear.

Darkpaw watched surprised as the more experienced warrior took prey from their side of the river. "splashewillow what do we do he hunted in are territory." she asked the warrior hissing at the skyclan warrior. She hated that she was smarter than most cats but even a warrior hunting in a different clans territory was against the rules. Her fur stood up as she saw that the skyclan apprentice was ready to fight so she eyed the apprentice because if they got in a fight she would go towards him.

Splashwillow's pupils dilated as she watched Foxhunter blatantly trespass and steal prey, disgust sharply written across her delicate features as she continued to glare. Buzzardpaw's panicked apology fell upon deaf ears as her glossy fur began to bristle. Perhaps several moons ago, the calico she-cat would have simply let the actions slide- it was Leafbare and hungry bellies often lead to poor decisions for every cat. But this was SkyClan they were talking about! The Clan that openly fraternized with those foul-blooded, traitorous rats that were only brave enough to call themselves an archaic Tribe; so why should the kits in her Clan starve just to feed the bellies of those who resided in a Clan that welcomed Dark Forest worshiping savages?

"We defend what's ours." Splashwillow finally hissed to Darkpaw, flicking her tail to gesture to the young she-cat to follow in her pawsteps. Stepping out onto the frozen river with an elegance and confidence that could only be displayed by a RiverClan cat, the calico took several sure steps forwards out onto the river before letting loose a challenging yowl that echoed sharply in the frigid air. Several birds were launched into the air with caws of fright, the heavy thud of their frantically beating wings only adding to the rapidly mounting tension between the two groups. "Thief! You have no right to brazenly waltz onto RiverClan's territory and steal our prey!" Splashwillow belted, unsheathed claws grating against the ice as she charged across the remaining portion of the river.

Exploding forwards and across the border at Foxhunter with a surprising amount of speed and strength, the calico Warrior slithered to a halt before rearing up in front of the younger Tribe cat. With a menacing hiss, Splashwillow fell upon Foxhunter in a flurry of vicious and powerful swipes.

He felt the weight of Splashwillow's side and the warrior fell, dropping the fresh-kill he just caught. Foxhunter hissed angrily at the she-cat and, remembering Rippedsky's lesson, he turned over and slashed the exposed belly of the she-cat so he could take the chance to escape from her attacks.

Jumping back, the former tribe cat made a defensive crouch with the fur of his back rising up, ready to continue the fight. A thief? The prey he caught was in the middle of a border that didn't belong to them, from what he knew. But there were no words to say in a situation like this. The spotted tom already knew about the pride of Riverclan cats so, for now, their only option was to fight back. Foxhunter stood over the prey, defensively. This was for his clan... not for those fish-faces who already had a lot of food that was provided by the river.

Foxhunter used Half-Turn Belly Rake on Splashwillow, dealing 11 in damage and costing 20 in stamina.

Buzzardpaw began to swish his tail from side to side. Immediately, he turned his eyes to Darkpaw, a cat matching his strength and rank. "You should have just let us take it and leave," he hissed. He then launched his dark brown body at Darkpaw, pinning her to the ground with razor-sharp claws.

Darkpaw wiggled from the surprise attack but couldn't get free. "it wasn't my fault your mentor/ clan mate crossed are territory." she hissed trying to get free. Even though she hated going back to her old self she did anyway. "besides you I think everyone here is just being rude. I wasn't the one who said we should attack I didn't want to attack you but you attacked me." she hissed still staying to get free.

Buzzardpaw lifted an eyebrow. "Rude? You're the ones being rude. You have fish. We have a bunch of half-dead birds with too many feathers." With that, he dug his claws in deeper. This caused many pinpricks of blood to ooze out of Darkpaw's shoulders.
