FrostFeather patrols with a fern

FrostFeather came out if the warrior den smiling. She loved to help train others and today she would teach fernpaw to hunt. She went to the apprentice den and looked for the familiar pelt. She nudged the little cat. "wake up time to go." she said then left the den. She went to the center of camp and waited.

(OOC: Just wanted to remind you this is a hunting patrol, not hunting training. She's already gotten hunting training :3)

Fernpaw yawned squeakily and stretched in her nest. Then she bounced up and bounded out into the snow towards Frostfeather. "Good morning, Frostfeather! Thanks again for taking me out for a hunting patrol! I can't wait to catch prey for the Clan, it's so much fun!"

FrostFeather smiled at the eager apprentice. "yes and it's been a while since I have been hunting also. I was planning we hunt and when we each catch three prey we come back." she smiled and started to walk towards the entrance.

"Great idea! Let's go!" Fernpaw raced after her friend with an excited bounce.

FrostFeather followed her friend until she saw a good spot. "we will hunt here." she said then smelled the air. She caught a scent of rabbit and got into a crouch. When she was close enough she pounced and killed it. She brought it back to fernpaw.

Fernpaw watched in awe at Frostfeather's speed and agility. She wanted so badly to test her own hunting abilities on a real hunting patrol. She trotted through the area until she spotted a white hare. She bunched up her muscles before racing towards it with great speed.

It didn't take long for her to be practically on top of her prey, killing with a swift bite. She purred happily as she dragged it back to where Frostfeather's rabbit lay, placing it next to the fresh-kill and burying them with snow to hide them from predators. "This is so much fun!"

Ic: FrostFeather smiled at her hunting. "you will be a great hunter one day. And yes hunting is fun that's why I like it better that fighting." she said smiling. She sniffed the air and caught the scent of a bird. She stalked the bird until she saw it. It was on the ground eating a seed and in perfect position to catch. She made sure she was downwind then pounced at the bird. She killed it with ease and bringing it back to fernpaw it lost some feathers. "as you can see with this bird how I got my name. I can leap/pounce so far it looks like I'm a feather on the breeze." she said smiling after putting the bird with the rabbits.

"That's incredible!" Fernpaw meowed loudly. She wanted to try it for herself now. She made her way further into the field and came across a sparrow. Licking her lips, she raced as quickly as she could after it.

The sparrow squawked in alarm and took flight as soon as it saw her. Fernpaw leaped as high as she could, but she only grazed its tail feathers with her claws. She looked up at it as it flew away, then she shrugged and trotted back to Frostfeather. "Well, they can't all be winners. Maybe I should just stick to ground prey."

FrostFeather smiled at the younger cat. "of course or I could help you. We have three preys so we only need to hunt three more I can teach you how to hunt birds in the time we have then the birds will be counted as the three prey we need." she said. She loved teaching even though she wasn't a warrior long enough to have apprentice.

"Sure! I'd love to learn how to be the absolute best warrior I can be someday!" Fernpaw meowed eagerly, her fluffy tail swishing back and forth in the snow excitedly.

FrostFeather smiled at the young cat. "ok the best way to hunt a bird is to not make any sound. Birds can sense movement in the ground better than any mouse or rabbit. When you get close to a bird make sure your paws are not making any sound and that your breathing/heart is slowed. When you are close enough to that pounce and kill the bird. Let me show you." she said then smelled the air. When she caught the scent of a pigeon she stalked the scent until she saw the bird. She made sure her breathing and heart slowed and that her paws where not making a sound. Then she pounced and landed perfectly on the bird. She killed it with a quick bite and brought it back to the pile they made. "now you try." she said smiling.
