She would have to thank Magpiestar for trusting her with an apprentice when she got a chance.

Nightpaw's lips curled into an excited hiss. Finally, some real action! Her tail lashed back and forth. Muscles tensed. A sheathed paw collided with Lilacfall's shoulder. The young apprentice jumped back and taunted her mentor and mother, Lilacfall, suddenly getting into the spirit of the game, "No one messes with ShadowClan! Come at me, fox-hearted rogue."

Nightpaw tried to duck but the more experienced warrior's paw struck its target. The apprentice shook her head in agitation and took a few swift steps backwards, glaring at her opponent with determination. If I can unbalance her... the young cat schemed inwardly before charging at Lilacfall with all the speed she could muster and tackling her mentor to the cold, damp ground.

Lilacfall hadn't expected Nightpaw to tackle her to the ground, nor had she expected the force of the attack, and thus she fell to the ground from the unexpected impact. "That's the best you can do, is it?" she taunted after taking a deep breath to attempt to recover, though it seemed like the worst possible time to do so. Of course, her point became clearer as she raked across Nightpaw's belly with her claws, careful not to seriously hurt her - Roaringblaze didn't need more work in leaf-bare.

Nightpaw rolled and jumped up, shaking away dirt and pine needles that her fur had collected from scuffling on the ground. The apprentice hadn't expected her mentor to outwit her that easily, turning her attack into an opportunity for Lilacfall to rake her claws into Nightpaw's exposed belly. As unsheathed paws clawed at her, she had felt the restraint of the warrior's strength. She stared admiringly at her mentor for a brief moment as she paused to catch her breath, realizing in a real battle her mother could prove to be quite the formidable cat. The black she-cat was determined to best her, despite her smaller size, inexperience, and feeling quite winded. Rushing forward again, she made a move for Lilacfall's tail, biting firmly and pulling with all her might with the intention of knocking her to the floor and throwing her off her balance for a second time.

Lilacfall was stunned at Nightpaw's bite to her tail, both metaphorically and literally. The older cat frowned, unable to move due to the mixture of shock and pain that the attack delivered to her. She let out a quiet hiss, even as she felt the pain just beginning to fade.

Nightpaw stumbled back and sat on her haunches. "Alright, I give!" she yowled in mild agitation at losing the battle. But then her eyes shone in admiration as she praised her mother and mentor, "You're a really good fighter! I learned a lot from you today. Thanks, Lilacfall."

"You're welcome," Lilacfall purred. "Let me think... Is there anything we haven't done yet?" All she could think of was a hunting patrol, and that was best done on a different day. "...I don't think so. You've worked hard today and I'm proud of you. So, shall we go back to camp?"

The young apprentice nodded in agreement and rose to her paws, looking forward to curling up in the apprentice's den for a short nap to relieve her strength and the chance to give her ruffled coat a good, thorough grooming. "Yeah, let's head back to camp." she meowed happily.
