Skyclan's Temporary Deputy

Crowstar called out to his clan, "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for clan meeting!"

Duskflower heard the call and curious she came over from where she was sitting with a freshly caught squirrel. She made her way over and looked to Crowstar.

Wildstorm padded from the warriors' den with a stretch to gather beneath his father to see what he needs to say. Mistpaw followed suit and sat near his father to hear what his grandfather wanted to say. The line of Crowstar is strong.

Foxhunter approached the dusky she-cat and sat down with her. He looked at the leader curiously and then turned his green sight back at Duskflower. "Do you know what is this about?" He muttered so only the she-cat would hear him.

Fernpaw bounced out of the apprentice’s den excitedly and sat down, looking up at Crowstar curiously.

Padding up to where his father stood, Tinylegs sat down in the front of quickly growing crowd. The clan knew that Rippedsky was ill, so maybe this was about a new deputy? 'I didn't think he was that sick to not be able to preform his regular duties,' he thought to himself, worried for the tom.

Silentpaw stopped his actions and walked towards the assembling cats. He took a seat and waited for Crowstar to continue speaking.

"No...i don't have a clue what it might be"Duskflower mewed looking to the tom with a somewhat confused look t hoigh she offered a small smile as he sat next to her.

Mallowpaw made her way to the meeting place. She sat down and began to listen intently to Crowstar's words.

Shimmerpaw looked up from near the nursery where she was sitting. She walked curiously over to the growing group of cats that assembled around Crowstar.

Rabbitfoot stepped out of her den at Crowstar's call. She could only imagine what this was about considering she and Oceanlight had been working hard on keeping so many cats healthy, especially Rippedsky.

Mapleshade blinked hearing the call She came from the nursery quietly and sat down

"As we all know Rippedsky has fallen very ill.. and can no longer preform his duties for right now. Until he gets better I will be appointing a new deputy." The leader's voice was flat and monotone. He didn't like doing this but it was the best thing for the clan right now. "I say these words before the spirits of our ancestors so that they may hear and approve my choice. Tinylegs will be the new temporary deputy of SkyClan." The leader said. This would do for now. Tinylegs could stand in until Rippedsky was better.

Moonlight had joined the cats gathered with Crowstar’s call, sitting at Tinylegs’ side as always. She was aware of Rippedsky’s illness and while she was hoping he would get better soon he acknowledged the need of having another cat taking the spot temporarily. When the name of her mate was mentioned she smiled and nuzzled him “Congratulations”.

Hawkstrike listened from his spot near the warrior’s den the announcement. He wasn’t exactly excited with the idea of having a midget like Tinylegs as a deputy, especially in a clan where climbing and jumping was so important to their lifestyle and the white tom couldn’t even do that. However, he trusted in Crowstar’s choice, maybe there was something else about this warrior that he had missed.

Waiting in silence for the leader to speak, Tinylegs let out a soft purr when Moonlight join him, but quickly turned his attention back to his father. When the black tom began to speak, a hush fell over the crowd of gathered cats, all of them eager to hear what he had to say. Crowstar mentioned that Rippedsky was very ill, which the most of the clan already knew, but what surprised him was what the leader said next. "Tinylegs will be the temporary deputy of SkyClan."

A sense of pride filled the little tom as he looked up to his father, though of course he was nervous. What if he wasn't able to serve his clan as well as they wanted him to? Or what if they didn't approve of the leader's decision? No. He wouldn't let his clan down, no matter what challenges were thrown at him. Besides, Crowstar must have had faith in him to appoint him deputy, even if it was just temporarily.

Standing up, Tinylegs met his father's eyes and gave a respectful nod. "I won't let you down," he spoke strongly. Turning to Moonlight who'd congratulated him, the white and grey tom nudged his muzzle against her cheek, a purr erupting from his throat. "Thank you," he replied softly, unable to express how much he appreciated his mate's support.
