Leafstorm stirred with a groan, forcing himself to his feet and away from Specklefang wearily. It was that particular time just before dawn when the sky was a light mix of gray and purple, and the silhouettes of the trees were all you could see, besides a few clouds scuttling across the horizon. Fireflies stirred sleepily from the ground, lighting Leafstorm's trail towards the Apprentice den. Although the fluffy tom acted tired, his bright green eyes glimmered. This was his favorite time to be out and about, and the perfect time for training- the apprentice was usually too tired to act up, and the dark silence minimized distractions.
Leafstorm's tufted ears perked as rain began to fall, but he wasn't concerned. There weren't many clouds, and it was only drizzling. The warrior stuck his head into the Apprentice den, searching for Flowerpaw, sleeping among the other apprentices."Flowerpaw," Leafstorm whispered. "Get up, and come with me." He turned and padded towards the Fresh-Kill pile, selecting the smallest, skinniest sparrow he could find and eating it quickly while he waited.
