Frostpaw's Assessment [Closed]

Mottleheart sat near the entrance of the camp, his tail flickering as he waited for his apprentice. The events of the Gathering still fresh in his mind but there was little else to do but linger on his thoughts about Sageleaf. Frostpaw was growing up fast - he knew she would be a warrior in a few short sunrises so it was time to take care of perhaps the biggest part of her training, the assessment. He had faith in her hunting abilities, certain that this assessment would be done quick and easy and then she could spent the next few days relaxing before it was time for her ceremony. He gave a small shake of his head, ruffling his short fur as he raised his eyes to the horizon as the sun slowly drifted across the heavens as he waited for Frostpaw.

frostpaw came bounding out of the apprentice den. she saw mottleheat witing for her so she went up to him. "hi mottleheart what are we doing today?" she asked her mentor.

Mottleheart turned to face Frostpaw as the apprentice appraoched, dipping his head in greeting as he gave a swish of his tail. "We'll be doing your assessment," he stated before he turned on his paws, jerking his head for her to follow as he led her out into the moor. "You're almost warrior age now - your ceremony will be soon but before that can be made, we need to do a final test of your hunting skill. And that is where the assessment comes in. The rules are simple, catch a certain number of prey - three in this case - before sunset. Do that and I'll tell Ashstar that you are ready for your warrior name." He paused as he reached the starting spot, glancing over his shoulder at her. "Any questions?"

Frostpaw listened to her mentor with excitement. "awesome ha what prey do I hunt?" she asked her mentor

"I want you to catch two rabbits and a bird of any type," Mottleheart stated with a swish of his tail. He had faith in Frostpaw catching the rabbits - it was easy for WindClan to chase down the rabbits but he knew the real challenge would be in catching a bird. While rabbits had only their holes to hide in, birds could easily take off into the air to escape...It would take impressive sneaking up and speed to catch one before it took off but it would be a good sign of Frostpaw's hunting ability when she managed to down one. "As I stated, you have until sunset to catch these three pieces of prey...Meaning you have plenty of time. I'll be watching your progress throughout and will only intervene if necessary. Good luck Frostpaw," he said before he dipped his head. "Your assessment starts now."

When she caught the sent of pigeon she looked to where the smell was. this will be the bird I hunt, she thought to herself. pigeons where easily the slowest bird. She stalked it until she was close enough. Then without a sound she pounced on it. When she hit the ground she felt blood and feathers knowing she did a good job and the bird was dead. She grabbed the bird then went back to where her mentor was and put it down.

Frostpaw put her kill down next to her mentor then ran off to find some squirrels. When she was far enough to hunt but not to far to cry for help she sniffed the air. She got scent of mouse and a squirrel. She stalked the squirrel until she was close enough then pounced. The squirrel tried to get out from under her grip but was trapped. She killed it and brought it back to her mentor and other kill. She placed the squirrel on the pigeon then ran off to find another one. She scented another squirrel close by and went into the crouch. When she got in sight of it she pounced. She killed this one but it took much longer because the squirrel kept biting her paw. She ran to her mentor with her last kill and with the others next to her she sat down.
