Batting close to the Maple trees

The sunrise was barely coming when the black bengal tom reached the place where he first met Maplepaw. He woke up early and left the camp without being noticed so he could talk again to the tortie she-cat, like they agreed just a while ago. The Riverclan apprentice approached the water of the river and chose a rock to laid down and wait for her. His days as an apprentice were so boring all the time but now that Maplepaw appeared... he didn't felt bored anymore. Even the life in the camp wasn't so tedious and lonely now that he knew he had a friend that was really trying to know him better.

Maplepaw had eagerly got to her paws and had snuck from camp to head to the meeting place. A small smile on her maw as the tortie she cat with a white tail weaved through the territory and came to the river. She spotted the black Bengal and smiled some more making her way to her spot on her side of the border"hey"She mewed her amber eyes sparkling.

The Riverclan apprentice looked at the place where the she-cat emerged and smiled, standing up and waving his long tail. "Hi" He said, more excited than he meant to. Looking away a bit embarrassed, the apprentice sat down in his rock. He was so happy that the she-cat didn't forget their promise... He really could trust her. "I'm glad you came. How's going your live in the clan?" He asked, glancing back at her yellow and kind eyes.

Maplepaw smiled sitting down comfortable near the river as she looked to him a small purr rumbled in her throat"I am too but its going good. How about you ?"She asked with a kindness in her voice. She really didn't forget their meeting and she was really glad he didn't.

The charcoal frowned and looked to his reflection in the water, remembering what happened during his time talking to Starclan. His hated father said that talking to her was wrong because their relationship would bring him suffering and pain. His green eyes looked at her and those thoughts disappeared when he saw her kind face. How could she harm him? She was gentle,kind and pure. His father was a liar and a coward so he couldn't believe his words. "I'm fine." He lied smling. He didn't want her to be involved in his problems. "I just did my Moonstone trip so soon I'll be a warrior."

Maplepaw blinked and smiled looking to him flicking her white tail."that's great news I'll be a warrior soon too"She said smiling.

The tom smiled happy after hearing that she would be a warrior soon. ”That’s great. Congratulations, Maplepaw. I’m sure you deserve it” He purred. ”As warriors we can meet often. Maybe we can actually talk without a river between us.” He said sadly feeling the distance that was separating them because of the stupid clan’s borders.

Maplepaw blinked and smiled some thinking"yeah maybe"She said with a small smile as she looked to him with a small purr escaping her.

Her purr was like music to his pointy ears. His cold heart could only warm up because of Tinytip but now Maplepaw could make him feel the same. The young apprentice was happy and in peace just talking to her. It was nice to just be with her even if this meetings could lead him to break the Code.
Looking at the river, an idea came to his mind. With a smile, the charcoal tom left his rock to step forward to the water. ”Maplepaw, have you ever eaten a fresh-killed fish?” He meowed, waving his tail friendly.

Maplepaw blinked and looked to him as he stepped towards the water."no I havent"She mewed curious to what it might taste like"are they good?"She asked curious as she moved closer to the water.

Smiling glad that she answered like he expected the Riverclan tom grinned confidently. ”Why don’t you taste it by yourself?” He said before searching quickly for that silver flash and then diving his head under the water to catch with his jaws a medium sized fish. Killing it with a stronger bite the apprentice walked forward, letting the water cover his slender body until he couldn’t feel the ground under his paws. Then he continued swimming with the fish in his mouth until he finally arrived to the other shore of the river, a few steps away from the she-cat. He dropped the prey in front of her paws and then stepped back, flicking his tail. ”Go ahead and take it. Is my gift for your friendship.”

Maplepaw blinked watching him catch the fish before coming over across the river. She smiled a little bit before she bent down and sniffed the fish before she took a bite and purred a bit as she swallowed it "it's actually really good"She mewed looking at him."thank you"

The tom blushed slightly after seeing her happy from so close. His heart rushed for a second and he looked away smiling a bit. ”There’s nothing to thank me, Maplepaw. I’m the one that’s grateful to meet you.” He purred a little nervous, moving his paws anxiously. This was the first time they were so close and he was unsure what she thought of his appearance. Did she think that he was disgusting because of his scarred face? Or would she liked him anyways? He wondered, turning his green gaze back to her tortie fur.

Maplepaw smiled a soft purr rumbling in her throat as she looked at him. From far away she didn't see his scars but seeing them up close they didn't bother her. She took another bite of the fish before she nudged to him smiling"here you can have some too"She mewed smiling at him.

Her smile was even more heart-warming now that she was in front of him. Ignoring the fact that he should brought that fish to the clan so the kits and elders could eat, the tom accepted Maplepaw’s offering and ate the fish breaking the Warrior Code like he was doing by just meeting her here. But for him... it didn’t matter at all. ”Thank you, Maplepaw.” He purred, letting the warmth of his emotion fill his chest. His eyes looked at the SkyClan territory, remembering that his smell could attract SkyClan warriors to the border. ”I hate to say this but I think that I should go back to my territory before your clanmates find out that you’re talking to me. I really wish we could talk and share more like this... being so close...”
