Medicine Cat Meeting 8/27/17

Sageleaf easily scaled the rocky path up to the mouth of Highstones. It was the first time she had been here since her medicine cat ceremony. Her fur stood on end at the thought of facing her warrior ancestors again. Last time, they had warned her of the dark times coming for Windclan. There was always the possibility that hope could be provided tonight. Slatethroat seemed to be doing fine, and other than recovering from the brush with the dark forest, the clan seemed to be okay. Despite the positive thoughts, the medicine cat could not shake the nagging feeling in her stomach. More than likely, her fears would be confirmed and they would remind her of what was to come. The cold chill of the on coming nighttime sent chills down her spine. She shook them away and continued on.

"Its going to be a long night..." She muttered to herself as she settled down against the hard stone. Before long, the others would join, and they would all have to go in and speak to the ancestors.

Honeydrop nudged her former apprentice, the newly named Roaringblaze, up the path in front of her. She remembered how nervous she had been her first time as a full medicine cat, and hoped she could be there for the tom like she wished Alderheart could have been for her. The journey was uneventful, but she still felt small pricks of worry. How did StarClan feel about the Mist from the Dark Forest? Did they wish they could have helped? Did they think the forest cats should have handled it better? Could they have even helped? Did they know about it? The ShadowClan she-cat shook off the invasive thoughts. She was fine. StarClan was fine. Everything would be fine. Giving a nod to the WindClan medicine cat, Sagepaw- did she have her name now?- she waited for the other medicine cats to arrive.

Cloudstone's gaze was dark as he approached Highstones, looking back every now and then to check on Icepaw. Ever since the last Gathering he had been apprehensive about speaking to StarClan. What would they make of him? Would he be considered a traitor? His eyes flickered between each of the stars above, searching for an answer. 'I wanted the forest to finally be at peace.' He was stupid to think it could have been done as easily as the Tribe cat had described. Why did he always have to be stuck between this binary of isolating action and destructive inaction? The older tom shook his head as he came into view of the two she-cats that had already arrived.

Roaringblaze followed his former mentor to Highstones, anxiety creeping under his fur as they got closer and closer. Now that he had his full title, there would be more expected from him. He didn't know what to expect this time around- would his recent sister Echopaw talk to him about the mist? Would any starclan cat? Ever since the last gathering, the whole clan has been on edge. Roaringblaze wanted to reassure them that everything would be fine, but how could he when he has no idea what their ancestors want them to do?

When they reached Highstones, Roaringblaze forced himself out of his distracting thoughts and greeted their fellow medicine cats. He nodded at Sagepaw along with Honeydrop, and took his place in the congregation.

Rabbitfoot padded up tiredly. It felt like forever since the last medicine cat meeting, but the she-cat still tried to keep her head held high despite how thin she had spread herself these past several moons helping Thunderclan and training Sageleaf in Windclan. It was a lot to handle but she felt that it was her duty and she was proud of how well everything had been handled while Oceanlight took care of Skyclan. As she joined into the group of medicine cats, the she-cat dipped her head in greeting. "It's a pleasant evening," she mewed, nodding to everyone before turning her attention to the new Windclan medicine cat. "How are things in Windclan, Sageleaf?"

The pale golden spotted she cat she yo be the last one to arrive. She didn't have any idea about the medicine cat meeting until she had spotted a few of the other medicine cats heading off so she had followed out of curiosity. Being the last one to arrive Honeypaw was quite confused but remained quiet. Her tail low and her moss green eyes looking at them as she approached quietly.

"Well, for the most part." Sageleaf meowed simply to the Skyclan cat. It was good to see Rabbitfoot again. Even if the she-cat's presence in their camp bothered her a bit as an apprentice, she was grateful for the sweet medicine cat. She nodded formally to the other medicine cats assembled. Riverclan was not there yet, but everyone else seemed ready. The tom would have to catch up. As the grey and white she-cat had watched Beetlewing do many times, she turned to pad towards the gaping mouth of the stone. It felt strange being so young and yet guiding them forwards, but seniority did not matter much in the world of medicine. None was better than the next here. Her pads brushed against the cool, yet rough stone as she headed in. They would soon speak with the ancestors. She wanted to curl her tail uncomfortably at the though, but instead repressed it and moved onwards.
