I don't care that you're blind (Closed)

Specklefang was irritated that she had to teach a blind apprentice, born with impurities such as loner blood. But if anything Specklefang was going to shape this she-cat into the most loyal and respected member of Thunderclan... as much as an impure cat could be anyways, rolling her eyes Specklefang could 'see' why Blizzardstar chose her. She had recently lost half of her eyesight, so maybe she was figured her more fit to mentor a completely blind cat?

Huffing Specklefang slid into the apprentices den with the grace of a badger, her tail lashing with frustration as her fur caught and the brambles raked her pelt with a vengeance. Stumbling in Specklefang picked out the small, frail shape of the blind apprentice. Bending down Specklefang clamped her jaws around the apprentice's scruff and wrapped her paws around the apprentice's shoulders, holding her down with claws just pricking her skin.

"Lesson number one. You're blind Cherrypaw, you've got to be on guard more than your clan-mates. You can be caught off-guard and blind sided, especially in combat. While you're hunting, and while you're patrolling or just going for a stroll. Every cat is your enemy. With no site to guide your paws to rip into your enemies you cannot be taken by surprise." Specklefang spat, already lecturing as she released her new apprentice to leave the apprentice's den, or to fight with it.

Once in the clearing she turned to look at Cherrypaw with a hiss, "You will inevitably die if you fail to use any of your senses, especially in the wild." She hissed, pushing through the camp entrance, making sure Cherrypaw was behind her as she walked. "We're going to do something different today. Atleast, different from the other apprentices." She meowed, as much as she hated having to switch up her training regime, Cherrypaw needed special training. She'll just have to drill into Cherrypaw harder than she had her normal apprentices.

The small blind tortoishell she cat eyes snapped open fear and adrenaline coursing through the she cat as at first her unknown assailant kept her pinned down and held her scruff. She let out a yelp of alarm wanting to be let go and scared all the same. That was when Cherrypaw heard her mentor's voice and her ears flattened. She couldn't beleive her mentor would take such drastic actions. Once she was let go She let out a shaky breathe once the she cat left the den. She tried to gather herself as she stood slowly paws shaking a bit before she made her way from the apprentices den ears pricked and alert somewhat.

Once they were away from camp and in the sandy hollows Specklefang picked up a large stick and lightly padding to some underbrush, hitting the stick against the leaves and bushes she drew it against them in a line. "What's that noise?" She spat, she'd start with the basics first, but Cherrypaw should be able to hear better than other cats, her included. Upon waiting for an answer Specklefang slunk around Cherrypaw, soundlessly grabbing rocks and flinging them away from her in all sorts of directions to disorientate Cherrypaw.

Specklefang rose to her full height as she stood behind Cherrypaw, "You need to learn to differentiate certain sounds from others, like a cat sneaking up on you to the rustle of the leaves in the wind." Specklefang hissed as she walked around to Cherrypaw's front even though that didn't matter much. Specklefang crept away again as the bird song started, another sound to differentiate from and when she thought that there couldn't be anymore sounds, the wind picked up and the leaves shook.

"Everything will seem over whelming, but the sooner you start differentiating the shuffle of a cat in the undergrowth from the wind, the better." She meowed as she dipped into the undergrowth, shuffling along the leaves and stopping as the wind died then picked up again.

Cherrypaw struggled to keep up with her mentor.  She had to desperately follow by sound and sent but it proved quite difficult. The small tortie blinked as she listened to her mentor. Though it was short lived as she tried desperately to pinpoint her mentor but the wind and blowing leaves confused the poor apprentice. Her ears flattened quietly and she swung her head side to side

Specklefang leaped from the underbrush and tackled Cherrypaw to the ground with a hiss, her claws unsheathed just enough to remind the apprentice of their presence. "Pay attention! When wind rustled the underbrush it surrounds you! When a cat or anything lurking in the underbrush, the noise will be in one section! It will stop, and it will continue!" She roared before leaping off with the lash of her tail.

"You want to use the wind to your advantage, your nose works right? Taste the air, if there is no wind open your mouth and taste the air. If it's blowing towards you, move yourself accordingly!" She spat. "Again!" Was what she said before disappearing into the undergrowth, her large form making it hard for stealth. So even the deafest apprentice should be able to hear her. Specklefangs eyes glinted as she studied her apprentice, her paws movingly slowly through the underbrush before stopping... waiting.... then moving again.

She put emphasis in her movements, demonstrating what she should be listening for. Lining herself behind Cherrypaw she gave a screech as she leaped for her apprentice, hoping that the apprentice would dodge or slither away, maybe even fight back! Anything to prove that her apprentice had promise!

Cherrypaw bit back a yelp as her mentor pounced onto her pinning her as she hissed into her ear. Her ears flattened instantly before she looked to where her mentor was by hearing her voice. Once she was off her she stood slowly shaking her pelt out before focusing. She didn't want her mentor hissing in her ear again. She already feared the she cat and it was only her first day of training. As she listened she tried to pinpoint the rustling of the bushes or even something to tell the small she cat that someone was coming. She tried to block out the sound of rustling leaves over head as she turned just slight and caught the brief sound of the Bush rustling behind her. Quickly as she possibly could the small tortoishell she cat moved out of the way quietly and quickly before listening for any sound of landing or close proximity of her mentor's scent. This would be a feeble attempt but it would be better then nothing,she hoped. As she caught her scent and heard her land she leapt and attempted to sort of knock into her mentor.

Specklefang stumbled to a stop before simply stepping aside, but regardless she was proud of her apprentice's attempt. But it wasn't good enough, Specklefang launched to bowl over her apprentice with ease, her paws thudding against the ground as she turned to face her. "You need to react faster! Stronger! No cat is going to wait for some bumbling kittypet to swipe her paws!" She spat, crouching to the ground just low enough that her belly fur was a whisker away from brushing against the ground.

But she wasn't going to make it so easy this time, she kept away from the underbrush, her large paws just barely skimming along as she circled her apprentice, willing for her to hear her movements. Depending how this went she would take her out on patrol, to evaluate further on her other senses. But until then Specklefang would see how she reacted to even silenter steps.

Cherrypaw blinked and scrambled out of the way just as he mentor had bowled into her. She shook her fur out ears flattened for a moment before she forced her ears up. You could tell she was listening intently. Her maw just slightly parted as she also tried to follow her movement visas her scent. She took notice no sounds came from the underbrush so she focused even more,if that was possible. He could just barely hear her movements. She turned her head just slightly turning with each pawsteps as she followed Specklefang's movements.  It didn't take long for her to figure out that her mentor was circling her. Her ears flatter just a little bit but not too much. The small tortie lashed her tail and sprang at her mentor figuring she would have wanted her to attempt another attack.

Specklefang was surprised when Cherrypaw launched at her, but Specklefang allowed a grin to stretch her face. Cherrypaw was going to be shaped into a fine, strong warrior and she couldn't be more proud. Specklefang met Cherrypaw with a thump before rolling onto her back and softly kicking the apprentice in the belly whilst holding her in her paws. The large warrior released her apprentice and decided some praise was due, getting to her paws Specklefang rested her tail against her apprentice's shoulder, good enough.

"On to a patrol now." She meowed, they'd start out easy by going along the Shadowclan border, maybe she'd see Waspstep? She hoped so. Tail raising the she-cat padded towards the border they shared with Shadowclan, along the way she would ask Cherrypaw to sniff and feel specific border landmarks. Until the apprentice was familiar with walking along the border she ordered her to lead away, using her nose and ears to lead her way long the border.

Cherrypaw blinked slightly as she felt the thump and paws hold onto hee as she felt the kicks to her belly. Ears flattened she backed off once she was released. She pricked her ears though feeling the tail on her shoulders and she smiled a little bit knowing partially that it was a sort of praise. The blind tortie smiled a bit when she said patrol and she flicked her tail eagerly. She followed after her mentor using scent and sound as she did ears pricked intentively.

"Tell me, Cherrypaw. What do you smell and hear? What can you feel and taste?" Asked Specklefang, her tail high as she asked her apprentice like she was surveying her for a fighting brigade. Her tail swished gently behind her as she walked, her eyes flitting along the border and her nose picking up the scents of the prey that scurried in the undergrowth. Her own paw steps silent as she tried to help Cherrypaw with picking out the sounds.

Cherrypaw had followed her took in the scents around her one by one quietly before she stopped ears pricked. She blinked her blind green eyes for a moment as she mewed"i..can smell..prey...mouse maybe..um..."She trailed off as he nose just somewhat picked up s hadowclan scent and her nose wrinkles up a bit"I'm not sure what that smell is"She mewed lifting her head a bit .
