Fog (Birth topic)

It was a cold and foggy night and Bubblemist lay in her nest in the nursery. She had been pregnant for some time and now her due date was finally closing. She could have her kits at any moment and now she was ordered to bed rest, which a stick by her side. She gasped as a particularly sharp pain struck her and she cried out in pain. "Father! Rabbitfoot!" The silver and white queen hissed in pain and grabbed the stick and clenched it between her jaws tightly trying to relieve some pain.

The cry was none but familiar to Rabbitfoot. She had been expecting it anytime now but even so, it still managed to catch her a bit off guard. Getting up from her own nest, the medicine cat grabbed some herbs and rushed to the nursery, scooting everyone out to give Bubblemist some room. "Is it time already?" She asked, not exactly expecting an answer. "Okay Bubblemist, I'm going to press on your belly for a minute. Here..." Before doing anything else, the she-cat placed a tiny pile of raspberry leaves on front of the queen. "Chew on these first. It will help ease the pain." As soon as she was free of the herb, Rabbitfoot pressed slightly on the queens belly. "Just one! This shouldn't take any time at all!"

Bubblemist nodded and ate the herbs. She winced at the taste and then when she felt the urge to push she pushed and out came a fuzzy dark gray kitten. She nipped the sac and gently started to lick his fur the wrong away until he let out a meow.

Fogkit meowed uncomfortably. She then wriggled closer to start feeding, pressed against the warm, furry body she felt utterly safe.

Bubblemist looked down at her kit and purred. "Ill name you Fogkit, after the foggy night you were born on." She purred and licked her kit gently.

Fogkit mewed, as if agreeing to the name.

It felt nearly instantaneous when the kit was suddenly born. Just as she had suspected, there was only one, and she was a cute little thing. Immediately, the queen and kit were right at home, comfortable again and starting their new life. As Rabbitfoot did one check over, she nodded as if to approve of her own actions. "I think it's a delightful name! You did very well, Bubblemist. She is very healthy! I'll be, um... I'll be keeping an eye on you and Fogkit for the next few days, but otherwise, you are good to go! I'll be in my den if you need anything, okay?" Without waiting for a response, the medicine cat turned and padded out to give the new mother and her kit some space.

Fogkit nuzzled closer to his mother and purred his first purr, completely content.

The newly born kit was a peculiar one indeed - her fur was curled and funny-looking, nothing alike either parents, but she did resmble her family in one way. Unknown at that point was he damaged eye, but for the moment, the she-kit was healthy and energetic, quickly moving herself to suckle from her mother, cuddling in the warmth of her milk-scented belly.

She was the tiniest kit in the litter. She could smell her mothers milk, but the newborn kit kept getting pushed out of the way by bigger bodies. She wriggled her way closer to the milky scent. She was little, but energetic, and she let out a loud mewl as she pushed closer to her mothers belly.

One of the last kits to be born, ironically, was one of the biggest. Her fur was a silvery-white with orange patches, an even mix between the parents, and she mewled out as soon as the light hit her eyes. She pushed and squirmed against the other bodies, eager to get as much milk as possible from her mother.

Bubblemist purred. "I shall name you Curlykit for your curly pelt. You shall be Halfkit because you are half the size of the others. And you shall be Linchenkit because your pelt reminds me on linchen." The fluffy silver she cat meowed to the small bodies next to her. She ebtly groomed them and watched over them with yellow eyes.

The last to be born was a tortoishell and white kitten. Her black,ginger and white fur slick and the small kitten crawled forward to suckle.
