Snailpaw's Assessment

Willowpetal padded over to her apprentice, sleeping away the day in his den. "Snailpaw.. Wake up! It's an important day for you." She meowed, hoping the bit of mysteriousness, though maybe it was quite obvious, would get him on his paws quicker. Ducking her head out from the den, she made her way to the camp entrance to wait for the young tom.

Snailpaw yawned and blinked his eyes slowly. Light was shining directly in his eyes, which was pretty annoying for him. When his mentor told him it was an important day, he stood up, confused. What did she mean by important day? It couldn't be his warrior ceremony-- that would be held by a leader. Of course, to any other apprentice, it was obvious. Snailpaw was just a tad bit slow on the uptake.

He joined his mentor, still winking sleep from his eyes.

Willowpetal smiled at his confused look, but just flicked her tail. "Come on." She said, as Snailpaw made his way towards her. They padded across the river and sort of towards Sunningrocks until they were about halfway there. Here, she stopped and turned to face the pale-furred tom. "Today you will be completing your assessment." She meowed matter-of-factly. "You will catch one prey that resides on land and two prey that reside in the river. You will have until Sun high to complete this task." She said in a sure voice after glancing at the sun who had just made it's way over the horizon not too long ago. "You have trained well for this and I will be watching the whole time. You may begin." She finished with an encouraging smile. She knew how nerve-wracking this moment could be, and it was no doubt any less for Snailpaw.

Snailpaw blanked the moment she said assessment. Oh StarClan, was it that time already?

ooc: so I believe you just pick a piece of prey and then roll the dice. In this thread there's types of prey that you pick from and then whatever you roll depicts whether you caught it. So like say you chose a bird and you rolled any number 1-4, then that means you caught it, but if you had rolled any number 5-9 or a 0 then you would have missed. (I'm sorry if I didn't explain very well. If you still need explaining on any part please tell me.)

ic: Willowpetal laughed good-naturedly at the apprentice's hesitance. "You'll do fine. Go on." She meowed encouragingly, flicking his ear with her tail.

Oh goodness. Snailpaw was nervous beyond belief. He sat down beside the river and waited for the shadow of a fish to pass by, his tail twitching with fear of failure. As he scooped it up and killed it, he felt a rush of relief and joy.

Snailpaw once again sat and waited for a fish to swim by, scooping it up when it finally did come to him.

Snailpaw then attempted to track down a toad beside the river. As he did so, his sides were raked by talons. An owl was attempting to carry him off, but it turned out he was too heavy from regular fish-eating to be absconded with. Reflexively, he swiped back at it.
