Nectarleap somehow managed to hold back a growl at Twistedtail's words. How could anyone speak so badly about their daughter, especially when in his eyes, she was perfect? The only mistake Heathershade had made was not talking to someone more supportive than her mother earlier. At her last sentence, the warrior just looked at her without saying anything, obviously not agreeing with her. But then Heathershade spoke up to her, and for some reason that just made him an immense mix or pride and happiness. He was still mad at the one she had to stand up to though. His eyes then traveled back to the kits, who were eating their first ever bites of fresh-kill. It was so heart-warming that he couldn't help but let out a quiet and loving purr. He could deal with Twistedtail later. Right now, he could focus on being a father.
"That is a hare," he explained to the kits, "And it is a good thing you find it delicious. Someday, that is going to be all that you eat. And one day, you'll be able to catch them too. It's part of the warrior life, and you have just been introduced to it."
