Sootkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled.

Sootkit yawned as she left the nursery, She watched Ashstar as he stood on his ledge. Her pale brown eyes blinked several times as she watched half-interested.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Sootkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sootpaw. Nectarleap will be your mentor. I hope he will pass down all he knows on to you."

Sootkit's eyes widened as she realized what was happening. I'm Sootpaw now?! She let out a little squeal before seeking out to find her new mentor. Nectarleap... That's what Ashstar said.... right? Sootpaw thought about the young warrior. Will he be a good mentor? A sea of questions raced through the small gray apprentice's mind, but right now all she could feel was happiness and eagerness for the future.

Nrctarleap had come out into the clearing when he heard Ashstar call a meeting. When he heard it was an apprentice ceremony, he only half listened. Sure, they were important and all, but it was very unlikely that he would be a mentor anytime soon. It turned out that he was wrong. When he heard his name said, the young warrior's jaw dropped. Him, a mentor? He had practically just become a warrior, there were definitely more capable cats. But if Ashstar chose him, she must think that he was ready. He stepped up to Sootpaw and touched noses with the new apprentice.
"I promise I will teach you all that I know."
