June's Kittypet Corner

The small field chirped with summer crickets under the light of the bright stars. It glowed with fireflies, giving a fantastical feel to the early summer air that night. Two-leg benches outlined a thin stone path that winded through the short, two-leg cut grass, peacefully empty. A light breeze gently swayed the sparse trees' branches back and forth, leaves rippling like mysterious mirages.  

Shade was the first to arrive to the meeting, leaping onto a two-leg bench and tasting the air for other cats. Thanks to his friend Kenobi's care, his strength had started to return. Food and shelter was provided to him through the ginger tom's various connections to other cats and their two-legs. However, Shade wasn't about to get lazy. He practiced his fighting skills regularly, building up muscle that had once been lost to starvation. The black and white tom was cautiously happy, finally feeling the weight of his past starting to lift from his shoulders. Kenobi slowly cracked open his stony facade, allowing him to begin to feel safe to freely express himself.  

Today, Shade didn't see much of Kenobi. But they were both strongly independent, so the rogue was fine with it. He went to this alone with no expectations for him to attend the meeting or not, figuring that Kenobi could decide for himself if we wanted to go.

Curling his tail around his paws, Shade waited patiently for more cats to appear.
