Simple Joy of Motherhood [Closed]

Amberpelt sat curled in the nursery, her eye half-open as she kept an eye on her two kits. She hadn't been expecting to be a mother but she couldn't very much complain about it. She adored her two little sons - Rockkit and Snailkit. She was certain that the two of them would be great warriors, perhaps even a bit smug about it. But there was the hope that she wouldn't be in the den for a very long time. While she loved her two little warriors, she also wanted to get back to her duties. Being in the nursery was a bit...Boring. But watching her kits played offered some sort of entertainment at least.

A small bundle was curled up at Amberpelt's side, breathing slowly in his sleep. Snailkit was content to forever remain here with his mother and his brother, warm and happy. When it had rained, he hadn't liked it very much. It was cold and wet and made him sneeze. The only thing he'd liked were the snails washed ashore from the river, the way they moved so slowly and were easy to pounce on. Though, it had hurt when he bit the shell. When he tried the soft part, it was gross and rubbery. But that was all in the past. Now he was here, asleep and content.

Rockkit was different than his brother. Even when sleeping he was always fidgeting. Eventually, he had scooted himself far enough away to receive a small drop as he fell off of Amberpelt's side. He squeaked as he fell and woke up as he hit the ground of the nursery. He indignantly stood up on shaky legs and tried to climb back up. He slid back down, unable to due to the fact that he was still unsteady on his legs.

Amberpelt's head shot up when Rockkit slid from her side, worry flickering in her eyes as her son struggled to his paws. It hadn't been that big of a drop but Rockkit was still so small... The worry melted away and instead was replaced with simple warmth as he attempted to scramble back onto her back. "Come over here Rockkit," she cooed to her son, gently motioning for him to join her. It would be hard to put Rockkit back onto her side without waking up Snailkit but perhaps he would simply be content with cuddles.

Snailkit gently wailed when his mother moved him over to put Rock-kit back in. He didn't really understand why Rock-kit wanted to be so... Rock-kit, exploring and tussling and all. That was just too exhausting to Snailkit. He enjoyed just laying there with his mother or, if he was feeling adventurous, playing moss-ball. He hoped that they wouldn't make him swim or do anything too tiring when he was an apprentice and, eventually, a warrior. The little pale gold tom liked his world just the way it was.

Rockkit made his way closer to Amberpelt. He tensed as he was picked up and placed back down on her side, but snuggled up closer to his brother while remaining awake. Now that he was awake he didn't want to get back to sleep.

Amberpelt shifted as her sons curled up against one another, resting her head onto her paws as she noted how...Boring being a mother was. Her tail flickered as she let out a soft sigh, closing her eyes as she wondered what to do. Her life was watching over her kits and she greatly missed the idea of leaving the camp, basking in the sun...But she couldn't deny that she loved her sons. While she missed the freedom of being a warrior, she loved watching her sons slowly grow. It would be strange when they became apprentices but she was certain that they would make her proud.
