Orphaned kit by the river

Mouse woke up and looked around realising her mother was not there. All mouse could smell was Dog and she was afraid. She peeked out her head and looked around only seeing a river and realised she was alone. "Mother where are you" She yowled and waited for a reply next to the river.

Jaypaw once again heard the cry of another cat near to the river, however, this time was different. The scent was from a kit that he had never seen before. With green and surprised eyes, the tabby gray tom approached the little she-cat that was alone.
Trying to not scare her, he waved his tail friendly and smiled at her. "Hello, little one. Where is your family, why are alone? A kit like you shouldn't be wandering trough the territories like this. Who are you?" The Riverclan apprentice looked at her with curiosity and a little concerned.

Cinderpaw was practicing swimming near the river being careful this time to not drown and having Jaypaw save her again. When she heard a small cry and rushed out. Is another cat drowned in the river? She was nervous if that was the case, she could not swim very well unlike Jaypaw...Head darting everywhere she saw Jaypaw talking to a small kit. Breathing a sign of relief she rushed over there, why did she hear a cry if everything was fine. And why was there a kit outside of camp. But as she got closer she realized she has never seen this cat before. Cinderpaw waved her tail in greeting to the two cats smiling at Jaypaw she asked, "Why are you out her by yourself, little one? It`s not safe for tiny little kits like you." Her yellow eyes were full of concern as she padded closer to the kit, the tiny she-cat looked fine enough.

"I don't know where my mother is!" Sniffed mouse "Do you know where she is?"

Cinderpaw looked to Jaypaw, "What do we do? Should we take this kit back to camp?" She looked up to Jaypaw since he was a lot more wiser then her. "Do you know what direction she went? Maybe we can fine her for you?"

"I don't know where she went..." Mouse sadly admitted. She asked " Umm how can you swim? Also what are your names? Mine is Mouse." She was curious about the two nice cats that were talking to her.

The apprentice glanced back at te calico she-cat with conccerned eyes. They couldn't leave this kit alone close to the river. It was too dangerous. "I think that we must took her to the camp. Maybe in the medicine den the Cloudstone or his apprentice could take care of her until the leader decide what to do." He muttered to Cinderpaw before he turned back his sight to Mouse. "I'm Jaypaw, a Riverclan apprentice. Do you know what a clan is? Did you mother told you about that?" Jaypaw wanted to make sure that if this kit belonged to a clan cat or a rogue or a kittypet. If her mother was a clan cat, then maybe he and Cinderpaw could find her.

"Uhhh my mother told me about a large group of cats that live by the river. Is that riverclan?" Asked mouse who was a little confused.

"Yes! We live by the river. Did your mother come from one of these groups?" Cinderpaw asked with concerned eyes. She nodded to Jaypaw suggestion, "I think we should. I am Cinderpaw also, of course, from Riverclan." If they could not find this kits mother would Fish star decide to let her in the clan? Want if she doesn't? This kit won't survive by itself...

"No but my mother often saw them catching fish" Mewed Mouse. She wondered who Fish star was "Maybe it is a fish with cat ears" She thought and chucked under her breath.

Jaypaw took a deep breath, meditating. Mouse was so little and naive to be left alone and neither he or Cinderpaw knew if the mother of the kitten was coming back soon. And the warrior code that they couldn't neglect a kit in danger... no matter its origins. "Hey, Mouse. Do you want to come with us to our home? We'll try to take care of you until we find your mother. What do you think?" The gray tabby tom gave her a kind smile, trying to convince the kit to be with them.

"That sounds like fun! Thank you" Mouse mewed happily. She hoped they could find her mother but if they couldn't at least she had some cats to talk to.

Cinderpaw nodded with Jaypaw letting him do all of the talking. She was never good around kits anyways. She doubted the kit's mother would ever come back, from what she has learned from around here is that there are too many ways a single cat can get hurt or worse. But she didn't let that show as she smiled at the kit agreed to go with them. At least they didn't have to take this kit by force or anything. This kit was alone but despite that very cheerful and calm, unlike a lot of kits back at camp. And this kit seemed healthy, maybe she would grow to a fine warrior if the mother did not returned.

"Will they like me?" Asked mouse while looking at Jaypaw
