Duskkit, Weaslekit, Jasminekit, and Cinderkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Fishstar sat perched atop the old tree branch, overlooking the camp.

Jasminekit headed towards the Willowbranch

Weaselkit rushed out into the clearing. His medium-length, tabby fur was fairly unkempt as usual. Before Tawnystorm could attempt to fix it, he had managed to wriggle away and bound out at the leader's call. He bounced excitedly. The tom had an idea of what was going to happen. At his age, kits usually became apprentices. He tried to sit down and match his clanmates calm and composed behavior, but failed. Little paws padded against the ground restlessly. Weaselkit couldn't wait for this to start. There would be so much more to see outside of the camp walls.

Cinderkit bounded out of the clearing and, despite her protest and wiggling around, her black and orange fur glossy and fine. Her small paws bounced excitedly towards their leader. She wasn`t even trying to be calm like the others she was too excited to care.

Duskkit slowly lifted himself up from his nest, clumps of moss and mud still in his fur. He drowsily staggered over to the Willowbranch, his eyes drooping. He noticed his two siblings and the shy kit he had met were being apprenticed too, and it made him a little less sleepy. He yawned as he sat in position, lazily grooming his pelt as he waited for the warriors to gather.

Frogjaw was quick to stop clearing out his moss when he heard Fishstar's call. The tom dashed over to his kits, eyes beaming as he looked upon them. Before Weaselkit could weasel away, the tom placed a heavy paw on his tail and groomed the kitten roughly to make him look presentable. Duskkit and Jasminekit seemed to have the sense to come presentable, or at least, try make themselves presentable for the ceremony.

Finchpaw dashed out of the apprentice's den, purring excitedly. She loved to watch ceremonies, but apprentice ceremonies were always her favorite. Seeing the kits so happy and full of excitement always warmed her heart, and that was no different today. Waving her tail to Weaselkit, who she had spoken to before, she settled down among the gathering crowd of her clanmates.

Duskkit gazed over the group of cats that was forming. he was still tired, but excited.

Cinderkit's paws clawed the ground in anticipation. Her gaze traveled across her clanmates. This was it!

"Duskkit, Weaselkit, Jasminekit, and Cinderkit," the leader called out once the four kits in question had arrived, "please step forward."

Jasminekit stepped forward waiting for her mentor to be named.

Cinderkit took a weary step forward looking from kit to kit waiting for her mentor.

Weaselkit ducked his head under the rasps of Frogjaw's tongue. His eyes snapped open and back to attention at Fishstar's words. He went to race forwards, but quickly went back to press against his father's warm fur. Afterwards, he bolted to quickly join the other kits up front. With an ungraceful halt, Weaselkit almost fell forwards, but managed to regain his balance.

Duskkit straightened his posture, his blue eyes gazing now into the horizon, wondering who would get to be his mentor. He quickly pushed Weaselkit to the side as he skidded on next to him, and stared at Frogjaw, who was beaming up at them.

Tawnystorm padded out of her den with a smile on her face, knowing fully well what this ceremony was for - her children's ceremony. Finally, they were self-sufficient, not glued to her hip and dribbling everywhere. She could go back to her duties, and if she was lucky, somebody might be able to tame Weaselkit. She beamed proudly up at her kits as they stepped forward.
