Bird Season! [Battle, closed for Overlord]

The New leaf sun beat down against Sunningrocks,bathing them in light. The wind was slight and the birds chirped joyfully in the trees above. It was a perfect day for sunning. It was more than perfect to be alone. Ospreypaw had realised this the moment he had awoken from his slumber.

The tabby apprentice bounded through the undergrowth towards Sunningrocks. His tabby pelt sparkled in the sun and his pale amber eyes shone brightly. Today was perfect and he was glad he had realised this as soon as he had.

Ospreypaw sighed deeply as he saw the light bathed rocks. They seemed to be calling him to be lazy, it was a call he couldn't seem to resist. The tom flopped down on the biggest rock and let the rays of sun warm his tabby pelt. He was right, this was so perfect. That was until he heard the snap of a twig across the border.

Ospreypaw bolted up right instantly. Someone was there, but he had no idea who. Cautiously the tom stepped towards the border, his place amber eyes scouring the shadows of the trees that loomed above. "Hello?" he called out as he edged forward a little more. "Is anyone there?" Ospreypaw waited for a response.

He wasn't too surprised when none came. The tom settled back down on his rock and slowly began to clean his still thick Winter coat. "Must of been a bird..." muttered Ospreypaw to himself.

Ospreypaw heard her voice before he saw her. His amber eyes snapped open and focused on the grey She-cat. He did not like her voice at all. The apprentice lay where he was on the rocks, he wasn't moving. This was RiverClan territory she couldn't make him move.

Ospreypaw watched her slowly and with interest as she approached. Something seemed off about her. The apprentice became slightly scared as she approached the border, but when she crossed it was quickly replaced with anger. An emotion which Ospreypaw had seldom experienced.

The tabby tom bolted upright and stared down upon Hoosefeather. " Get back across the border." he meowed not rising to her tone. " You're the one who is not safe. This is RiverClan territory, and it is none of your business what I'm doing you-- but I think it's rather obvious that I'm sunning. Now go!"

Ospreypaw felt his blood boil, this cat was now accusing him of being disloyal, of trespassing. Ospreypaw's claws unsheathed and he scraped them across the rock beneath him, creating a horrific screeching sound. "Do not speak to me like that. I am not mean, you are trespassing and making accusations with no evidence. You will not listen to me so I guess I'll have to make you leave!" he hissed leaping forward.

The tom pounced onto Goosefeather, his claws unsheathed and eyes blazing. He had no idea how to control his anger and he just wanted to let it all loose on her. His mother's death, Morningfog's blindness and Finchpaw. This cat was there, and this cat had sparked the fire.

Ospreypaw's claws tore at her face and chest, leaving long deep gashes, that oozed red liquid.  His heart hammered against his chest and he reared up smashing his paws down on her head.

Ospreypaw used Leap and hold on Goosefeather coating 10 SP and dealing 6 damage.

The tom continued to pummel at Goosefeather, but as she let a screech of pain it brought him back to reality. "Oh, no... What am I doing?!" he yowled stepping backwards. This is not we had planned when he attacked her. Ospreypaw stumbled backwards. This was not him, he would never do this, what would Finchpaw think of him now? She was terrified of blood and here he was, her best friend, with blood soaked paws. Ospreypaw lifted his head to look at Goosefeather and he slowly began to tremble. He was useless apprentice and he had failed his mother. He had lied to her and broken his promise. Fogheart would never be proud of him now. "I-I-I'm so s-s-s-sorry... I w-wasn't thinking... P-p-please go, y-y-you're trespassing. This is R-r-r-riverClan territory." he stuttered dispairingly. Tears filling his eyes, how pathetic was he? Crying in front of an enemy, begging for forgiveness. Fogheart and everyone else would be roaring with laughter and Finchpaw would never be able to look at him the same. "P-p-please don't tell anyone and I w-w-w-won't tell anyone that y-you trespassed." Ospreypaw nervously shuffled his paw as he gazed at Goosefeather.

Ospreypaw dipped his head and scampered off. He was a horrible cat, a coward. He was no better than a kittypet. His paws carried him quickly to RiverClan camp and he begun to wash off the blood. As long as there was no trace he was still innocent and Finchpaw would still look at him in the same way. It would all be fine.
