Wisterias Under the Moon [Closed Hunting Patrol]

Moonlight padded towards the entrance of the camp, but not without quickly looking over her shoulder to see if her apprentice was following her. It had taken her by surprise, to receive Wisteriapaw as her own apprentice, but now that the training of the younger cat was on her paws she was going to do her best to shape her into a fine warrior “We will go hunting today, if that’s ok with you, that is” She smiled at Wisteriapaw as she spoke, awaiting for her answer.

Apprentice followed Moonlight with quick steps and trying to look around and do multiple things at once. She was happy that Moonlight prepared hunting for them, altough Wisteriapaw admired battling more than hunting.

Moonlight smiled as they reached one of the best spots for hunting, nodding before turning to look at her apprentice "Very well, can you show me what you already know? If there are any weak spots in your hunting strategy we need to find and work on them after all"

Wisteriapaw noded hapily and slowly steped some steps away from the mentor. She knew that her clan is perfect at the hunting with tree animals, like squirrels. She approached the nearest tree and looked up. But there was nothing on there. Then she chose different strategy. She turned her head up to the tree and looked for every tiny move. Some minutes she waited, because everything was calm, then somewhere squirrel moved. Wisteriapaw smiled and slowly came to the tree on which sqiuirrel was waiting. With slowly climbing and almost unhearable breathing she came on the tree. Only few steps were left to the squirrel. Apprentice jumped and fell on the squirrel, which fell down the tree. High jump surely killed an animal, but apprentice managed to stayed on the branch. Fast she climbed down and grabed her squirrel and took it to her mentor.

Moonlight followed her apprentice with a smile. Originally she wasn’t planning to go after her, allowing her to try and find and hunt whatever piece of prey she wanted…but then she saw her climbing up the tree.

She remembered her own assessment and how she almost fell off a branch while trying to hunt a bird then. Worried for Wisteriapaw’s safety, she got right under the apprentice as she stalked the squirrel, only jumping aside when the squirrel she was hunting fell off to not spoil Wisteriapaw’s attempt to kill the squirrel through a fall…she would just need to remind her to not take that specific piece of prey to the elders nor kits and queens, given that the broken bones that such method often brought with it could be easily swallowed by them given their lack of focus on small details against the apprentices and warriors that could notice and push those away instead. And she knew how dangerous a broken bone could be if it pierced another cat’s insides.

Wisteriapaw was very proud on her for catching this squirrel all of herself. She smiled to the mentor and waited for next instructions or something else. She was in a perfect mood because she caught the squirrel in her first try and this was a great achivement.

Moonlight smiled at Wisteriapaw as she climbed down the tree, twitching her whiskers happily and pushing the piece of prey towards her “You really have an interesting strategy when hunting, and quite effective as well…but tell me, are you as good with birds?” SkyClan cats were known for their ability to catch birds, and she couldn’t help but wonder if her apprentice was a good hunter overall, or if she would need to help her out in some areas so she could live up to the clan’s fame.
