It will all be okay (A closed patrol for Rowan)

Lilyheart paced outside the apprentice's den nervously, her teeth pressing into her tongue as she did so. This was her first time being a mentor, like Eagleheart had been with her. The young warrior's face scrunched as she thought of how he tried to act cold and serious on her first day out, she considered trying to do the same with Brierpaw but with Cherrymist gone she didn't think that right.

The apprentice had lost their mother, and Lilyheart thought of the she-cat defending Rippedsky with her when her brother Breezewhisker, her mentor, and Vipertail had tried to chase him out. Lilyheart quickly shut away the thought, today would have to be good, she'd do her best to make the sad apprentice feel better even if it was just the smallest amount.

Softly padding into the apprentice's den she picked out hers, careful not to step on any tails. Stopping beside Brierpaw she bent her head down and nudged the tom's face with her nose, a soft smile on her face. "Hey there Brierpaw, it's time to wake up, I want to take you out on patrol today. You'll enjoy I should think the forest, it's beautiful." She gently whispered, mindful of the other apprentice's that still slept.

Brierpaw's ears angled towards the entrance as he heard someone coming in. Without moving enough to signify he was awake- and had been the whole night, excluding the past hour or two of fretful dozing -he opened his mouth slightly to take in the scent. It was a familiar scent, but not one he immediately recognized. At least, not until the cat had walked up to him and crouched down. He stopped himself from sighing at her soft tone. It reminded him of when he'd hurt his paw falling off of the nursery as a kit. Cherrymist had spoke to him so softly while he lay curled against her side, his sprained paw the most pain he'd ever felt. Until he slipped out of camp one night and came back to find that Cherrymist was gone.
He opened his eyes. Deep sorrow and self-loathing glittered in those oddly colored eyes, more pain than any apprentice should feel at that age. Then he blinked and it was gone, emotions carefully hidden. He sat up and jumped over Lilyheart's head, stumbling slightly as he landed, but making it out of the den nonetheless. He sat down outside it and shook out his fur, which was proving to be longer than both his parents'. The young tom was already a big cat for his age, large paws only suggesting that he'd grow larger still.

Lilyheart blinked as her apprentice quickly swept out of the apprentice den, following after the tom she nodded to him, her tail raising into the air as she took the lead. Even if the tom was big she was still a bit taller than him, she would make sure he got the best training for him that she could provide, maybe she could consult Rippedsky. Passing through the camp entrance, the thorns scraping her pelt and brushing her fur she turned her head just slightly to see if the tom was following. "Here you are, isn't it beautiful? Smell that air. Anyways, we mainly border with Thunderclan, so I was thinking that we will do Shadowclan border, and a bit of Thunderclan. Then I'll show you this beautiful creek, it looks like there are stars in it at night." The warrior excitedly rambled, looking to the apprentice, waiting patiently for a response.
