Excitement inbound(closed for Acorn)

It was early morning,a gray ginger and white bundle of fur stirred and uncurled. Bright moss green eyes soon opened and she blinked stretching slightly next to her foster mother. Lichenkit smiled and have a slight sneeze before she shook her head and got to her small paws.

Emberheart blinked, stretching contently in the light of the early morning sun, and giving Lichenkit beside her a smile and a purr. Though she missed Pinewhisker's warmth in the warrior den, it felt like ages ago now, and since her kits had just recently become apprenticed, she missed Amberpaw's wide-eyed heart of exploration, Markedpaw's comforting laughter and kindness, Cypresspaw's playful laziness.

It felt nice to have a kit around.

Getting to her paws, the russet queen looked down at Lichenkit, shaking out her russet pelt, the leaves above them rustling as the birds sang. She's awake. "Let's go outside," yawned the queen, belly rumbling loudly as she bent to give Lichen a brisk lick. "I'm starved."

She slunk through the opening, glad to have her athletic, slim shape back after having kits. Her milk had nearly dried up by now. Her tail behind her pressed the calico lightly forward as they neared the fresh-kill pile.

Lichenkit blinked and looked at Emberheart and gave a smile."morning momma"She mewed as she stretched a bit giving a small yawn before she blinked feeling the tail leading her on. She blinked and followed quietly looking at the fresh kill pile as it came into view. Her curiousity got the better of her and she approached the pile and sniffed at it for a moment before looking up at Emberheart.

The queen glanced down at Lichenkit, her eyes glowing. "You're ready for fresh-kill now—my milk's drying up anyway. Try some, it's really great."

Sniffing through the pile, she eventually round up with a magpie in her jaws. She laid it it the she-kit's paws, cocking her head and settling down beside her. "Magpie's my favorite," she purred, pulling the bird towards her to rip off the soft skin and feathers. "Most don't like it—say it's too bony and feathery—but if you do it the right way—" she stood, burying the skin and leaves beneath the sand, then crouched next to Lichen. "It's perfect." Emberheart fluffed out her fur, looking rather proud. She scrutinized Lichenkit, awaiting her reaction to her first taste of meat.

Lichenkit blinked her gaze on the fresh-kill pile for wait seemed like moons before she blinked looking to her mother. She had to admit She was curious as to what the prey tasted like. She turned back and briefly sniffed at a mouse in the pile before she stepped back watching Emberheart grab a magpie."ok...so You don't eat the feathers?"she asked curiously as she watched her bury the feathers and skin. She then blinked looking at the prey before her and vent her head down taking a bite of the meat revealed to her. She blinked fur ruffled in excitement and she smiled"its really good"she mewed.

"No, they get caught in your mouth like a long furball." She frowned, but all of her features lit up when Lichenkit spoke.

"You like it?!" she purred, weaving around the kit. "That's great! I'll teach you how to strip them like I did—I loved them as a kit, Blacktwig can tell you—and when you're an apprentice, we'll go out hunting for them together!" Emberheart trilled, happiness lighting her eyes. This little kit reminded her so much of herself as a kit—she'd been adopted, too. And it was startling how innocent Lichenkit was. Nuzzling her cheek, the queen tilted her head towards the sunrise, her pelt stunningly bright in the morning stream of light.

"And Lichenkit, if you ever want to…" she gulped, scoring her claws along the ground. This was hard to say. "If you ever want to know about…where you…came from, or anything like that…I'll tell you."

Mistywater had told her when she was a sunrise away from becoming a warrior, but Emberheart didn't want any cats teasing Lichenkit about her heritage when she didn't even know what it was. Besides, even if she didn't want to know now, she might later, and it would be good for her to know she had someone to talk to.

Lichenkit blinked and nodded but She smiled a bit tail flicking she snuck another bite purring happily before she sat down looking up at Emberheart."that sounds great momma"She mewed a bit smile. She looked forward to learning and even hunting later on with her. She then blinked quieting as she noticed the change in mood for a second before she mewed"in good I don't wanna know"she mewed tail flicking. She was content and happy right why would she need to know.
