A Badgerless Patrol [Open]

Larksong grimaced as she pulled herself from the warriors den, her leg aching as she strolled across the camp. She didn't really understand what badgers had against her but she was at least happy that they had managed to kill the one that had put her in Honeydrop's den twice. The wound was healed - this time with no scaring - but the pain still lingered. Enough to remind her that she wasn't fully healed but not enough to waver her from her duties. Emberpaw had gotten a time to relax since that badger's attack but now it was time to continue her training. It was time for a patrol. Sitting down at the entrance of the camp, Larksong glanced around the camp as she waited for her apprentice, wondering if anybody else would join.

Venompaw new that a patrol would be about to leave, and she'd not been on one yet. Energetically racing outside, she forced herself to calm down before approaching the first warrior she saw. She'd not met her face to face before but was pretty sure her name was Larksong. She approached quietly, hesitantly, before saying in a small yet confident voice
"Are you going on the next patrol? I was wondering if I could come is all" she shrugged, flicking her ear nonchalantly despite the excitement in her chest. Her first patrol, hopefully, and she couldn't wait. The only tell-tale that she wasn't as calm as she seemed, was the constant side to side movement of her tail, irregular and fast "I won't be a pain, promise!" her eyes gleamed with kit-like optimism

"Mind if I join you?" Flamestrike rumbled lowly as he padded over towards the other warrior and apprentice. From the looks of it, there would be a patrol going out. Since becoming a warrior and finally getting out of the apprentice's den, the serious tom had made it his goal to go out with the other warriors more. He would not be a burden to Shadowclan. His long legs moved swiftly as he strode up next to them.

Venompaw dipped her head respectfully to the other. She'd never met him, and he'd been gone by the time she reached the apprentice den. Directing her gaze to Larksong she waited to see her reaction, not wanting to waste time with introductions that seemed pointless at the moment, she'd probably bother with all that when they were walking.

She sat down, her tail brushing away leaves behind her as she brushed it along the ground to curl around herself, hoping to somehow help protect against the freezing leaf-bare breeze piercing through her fur. She had to admit, she didn't hate leaf-bare as much as others did, finding the snow and frost comforting as they made the landscape less harsh and like a wonderland. That didn't, however, mean she liked being a lump of ice every time she wanted to go on a patrol or for training

Emberpaw hurry out of the den and looked into Larksong´s eyes. She was a little scared because of badger´s attack some time ago. When she came closer she asked: "What are we doing today?" She hoped that hunting won´t be today on their activity list.

IC: Larksong smiled warmly at Vemonpaw as the young she-cat asked to join, dipping her head in greeting. "Of course Vemonpaw," she said with a purr as Flamestrike came padding up and requested to join as well. It was always a pleasure to get to know the other cats of the Clan a bit better so she wasn't going to turn down these offers. "The more the merrier," she stated with glimmering eyes before finally taking notice of Emberpaw coming out of the apprentice den. She could catch the hint of hestation in her apprentice but she couldn't blame Emberpaw, the apprentice wasn't very old and already witnessed a badger attack. "We are doing a simple border patrol - just so stretch our legs and check on the border," she explained as she got to her paws, wincing slightly from the aching pain in her leg. At least according to Honeydrop the pain would be gone so. "Follow me you three," she said with a flicker of her tail, turning and strolling into the territory.

Darkpaw got in her paws and got out of the den, Blackpaw was asleep, she saw how Larksong and another cats joined her, Darkpaw raced to them and called ''Hey! I wanna go with you!'' Darkpaw breathed to calm down a bit.

Venompaw nodded gratefully at Larksong, before looking at the new arrival. She recognised her from the nursery, she'd been there right before Venompaw was apprenticed. Still, she wasn't sure they could take so many, were five even allowed on a border patrol?

She didn't say anything however, just in case she was wrong. Instead, she stood up and held her tail high in the air, more than ready for Larksong to answer so that they could get moving

Emberpaw followed, happy because of the morning smell and very bright sun. All things today were good signs for the patrol and after some time, her fear was only a memory. There were no badgers in her head anymore, only happines and excitement. With every day she was getting stronger and better, and soon she will be able to defeat a badger herself.

Venompaw looked at the other apprentice with curiosity. She had looked a little tense, but now was strangely relaxed
"Um, nice to meet you. Just wondering, are you okay?" her ears pricked curiously, she was unaware of the badger attack that had happened, she'd been a kit at the time

Emberpaw answered: "Oh, yes I´m okay." Then she realized what other apprentice also said and she added: "Nice to meet you too." When she was walking she looked around and see all cats on the patrol; two warriors and three apprentices. She remembered a patrol when badger arrived; they were alone with Larksong. But when badger attacked almost half of the clan joined and helped them. Emberpaw realized that on territory of ShadowClan she would be always protected. No need to worry.

Flamestrike padded along silently. His thoughts were else where rather than with the conversation happening around him. The orange tom tasted the air a few times for anything unusual, but was relieved to find nothing. Just an average, ordinary patrol, He thought to himself with a contented sigh.

Venompaw trotted after the others, nodding in response to the other's comment. She was relatively content herself, but having never experienced an attack of any kind that was to be expected. She couldn't scent anything in the air, and her surroundings seemed okay, so she was satisfied
"So... uh... how's your training going?" She asked Emberpaw. She was plucking at straws, trying to figure out what to say and slightly nervous because the others didn't seem all that interested in conversation

Emberpaw answered happy because conversation between two cats was getting better. Patrols are good, but even better is if you can talk with someone. She said: "My training? Oh, I can say that very good. This is my second patrol and I have already learn how to hunt." Then she looked to the Amberpelt and whispered to Venompaw: "I think that my assessment will be very soon. I hope that I am right." Then after some seconds she asked: "What about you? How is your progress going on?"
