| OOC: eh... let's try to get one more successful catch. I think three is a good number cx and I will apologize for the terrible post now ;w;
The miss was a little disappointing but Thrushstar continued to watch, keeping just enough distance to stay unnoticed. He still believed in the apprentice and hoped that he could catch at least one more prey before the sun came up. That would be a good night. |

| Occ: oh that's fine and if he misses I'll post him hunting a few time to try and speed up the process
The apprentice shook his head, trying to knock the failure out of his head. The nighttime had gone by fast and he knew he couldn't allow anything to hold him back or slow him down. As he continued on, he was careful to not brush into anything that would alert potential prey. The same mistake would not be made twice. Eventually, he heard another scuffle in he undergrowth. This time it was a lizard. It was a big one too, it would make a good meal. A soft hiss escaped his throat as he launched himself forward. Before he could get the lizard, though, it swiftly scuttled away and dove to safety. Once more the frustration of a missed catch hit him.. But he had to keep going.

| "Hopefully Thrushstar didn't see that," He muttered to himself, knowing that in reality the leader had probably see him mess up twice now. That's two strikes against the rogues... Flamepaw thought bitterly to himself as he recalled their conversation not that long ago. He knew he had to get at least one more good catch. Another rustling broke through his thoughts, but he'd been too distracted and his reaction was slow. Another miss. Anger coursed through him and motivated him to press on. He couldn't give up now.

| That was more like normal apprentices, especially in Leafbare, not that Thrushstar was rooting against Flamepaw, but he knew that there were going to be some misses in there. He would become a little more concerned if he continued to miss. |

| He raced through the marshlands for a bit to get away from where he had been hunting most of the night. Once he reached a place that seemed like a area to hunt, he stopped. Ears pricked searching for any hint of prey in the leafbare cold. There wasn't much out. Flamepaw had been lucky to stumble upon a bit that was out there, but unlucky that some of it had gotten away. His ears pricked and he straightened up to chase after the prey, but once more it escaped before he could even go after it. Usually he wasn't such a bad hunter, but tonight the dice hated him he was off.
occ: stupid hunting dice..

| One more... one more, He repeated to himself over and over, trying to motivate himself to move forwards and finish the assessment. While he was distracted another frog hopped across his path and darted into the shelter of marshgrasses.
occ: soooo do we just continue this? It's getting a bit repetitive. the dice are against me.

| OOC: yeah we really need to fix up the system. Nah, I think we can stop.
As Thrushstar watched from a distance, it was getting a little rough for the apprentice. In all honesty, the leader was more surprised at the fact that Flamepaw was finding so many animals in the first place. Maybe he wasn't the greatest hunter today, but his nose was spot on. However, as he continued on and tried to catch more prey, Thrushstar finally noticed that the sun had already started rising. Off in the distance, the first rays of a new day shined in an array of colors across the darkened sky. That was the end of it, then. Finally showing himself through the tall grass of the surrounding marsh, he padded up to Flamepaw. "I'm rather impressed," he told the apprentice. "You had a fantastic start but from what it looked like, you were running out of energy... after a while. However, I am more impressed with how good your... nose is. That was a lot of prey you were able to find even... if you couldn't catch it all. You have a lot of potential still!" he mewed. "You pass your assessment. Now how... about we head back to camp?" |

| "Thank you, Thrushstar," He dipped his head and tried to hide the pleased smile on his face. Despite the fact he'd struggled to catch much, the leader still praised his potential. Flamepaw was surprised. Something crossed his mind, though and he couldn't keep himself from asking, "Does this mean I get to be a warrior now...?" He felt strange directly asking the Shadowclan leader. For moons he'd wondered when it would happen. And finally it seemed possible. |
