Adderkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather her for a clan meeting!" Crowstar said.

Adderkit's chest puffed with a swell of pride as she padded out of the nursery and into the camp clearing, her already bulky shoulders squared as she strutted through the camp- it was finally the day! She had groomed her thick fur until it shone in the weak sunlight and she lifted her head even higher; her neck muscles tensing in protest, but she didn't dare lower her head as she settled in the clearing, eagerly awaiting the praise and acceptance she desperately craved.

"Adderkit please come forward." Crowstar said looking at the kit with bright eyes.

Adderkit's heart quickened, and she hurriedly scampered forward, her chest puffed out so far that it looked like she was seconds away from popping. Looking up at Crowstar with gleaming amber eyes, her whiskers quivered in anticipation while her tail gave a single lash.

"Today you become an apprentice. So Adderkit, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Addperpaw. Your mentor will be Tinylegs." The leader said to the new apprentice.

"An apprentice at last!" Adderpaw reflected, her chest swelling further with excitement as she stood as tall as she possibly could, balancing on her small toes. She turned to gaze at the gathering crowd of warriors, queens, apprentices, and elders, eagerly scanning the crowd for Tinylegs, her new mentor. She was slightly surprised by Crowstar's choice, but pleased nonetheless.

Padding over to his new apprentice, the small tom let out a happy mew, glad to have another apprentice to train. "I can't wait to start training with you," he meowed with a smile, touching noses with the she-cat.
