Blazepaw and Grasspaw's Warrior Ceremony

Leafbare was here. Darkstar shivered against the cold, avoiding the frigid puddles from last night's shower. This season was tough and they would need more warriors. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather under the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

Grasspaw padded out in to the clearing with a sigh. Expecting to watch another cat be named a warrior without her. It had been moons delayed, so why not continue.

Blacktwig leapt out. He seemed like a huge shadow, looming over the ground. He walked up to the Highrock. He spotted Grasspaw's distraught expression. This is her ceremony, he thought, confusion wracking his brain. I don't think she knows. Blacktwig settled, waiting for the surprise that would inhabit her face when the reason was announced.

Blazepaw padded out after grasspaw and joined her.

Emberheart bolted through the camp entrance, lowering to a trot and dropping her squirrel into the prey pile, settling down beside Blacktwig in one long, fluid movement. Her training with Sunpaw was going well—she enjoyed having an apprentice so much—and she always found happiness in these ceremonies.

Grasspaw had been a loyal clanmate and a great apprentice, and even now as she glanced at Blazepaw, memories, tickled with sadness, came back to her of playing with him and his brother while they were kits.

She was pretty certain that this would finally be their long-awaited warrior ceremonies, and she licked her chest, meaning to be one of the first ones to congratulate them.

Blacktwig greeted Emberheart with a gentle smile and a flick of her tail. He watched as she licked her chest fur, usually a gesture to signify embarrassment. However, this was different - the she-cat would clearly be one of the first to be congratulating the once-young felines. Blacktwig remembered with a pang of nostalgia, when Grasspaw used to be known under the title of Grasskit, admiring and watching Blazepaw.

Grasspaw looked around at her clanmates as they gathered under the highrock. She gave Blazepaw a friendly lick on the ear as he sat next to her. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her and she sat up straight excited. To Blazepaw she whispered urgently, "Blazepaw! What if this is your ceremony? It's as much overdue as mine. And actually even more so.. you deserve it. I'm going to be yowling your warrior name the loudest when Darkstar calls it! You're going to be such a great warrior". Her enthusiastic whispering grew loud enough for the cats around to hear. But she didn't care, hopefully her best friend was going to be made a warrior. The old apprentice shuffled her paws happily, unable to sit still as she waited for the clan leader to say something.

"What makes you think it isn't yours, too?" Blacktwig asked knowingly, raising a nonexistent eyebrow at Grasspaw. He remembered when he discovered this fact, too, some moons ago.

"Do you really think so, Blacktwig?" Her tone became more serious and she stopped her shuffling. Would Darkstar really make me a warrior? Since it had been so long, she had just kind of stopped seeing it as possibility. She had almost forgotten about the fact that she could become a warrior.

"I really do," he said with a purr, looking back up at Darkstar. "Darkstar wouldn't just forget about you! She forgets about nobody." Blacktwig smiled warmly at his idol, the leader upon her perch. He then looked back at Grasspaw, who was seated beside Blazepaw.

Blazepaw greeted Grasspaw with purr and a lick on the cheek. "Blacktwig is right Darkstar's wouldn't forget about anyone. She didn't forget about Silentsong's ceremony and he was the oldest apprentice in the entire clan! And besides once you become a warrior I'll be the first one to congratulate you on being a warrior and then we can go out hunting to celebrate!" The gray and white tom meowed his dark yellow twinkled with happiness.

Her eyes shone excitedly. I'm going to be made a warrior alongside Blazepaw!
"That sounds great," She meowed quickly, rubbing her nose against his cheek before quickly darting her eyes back towards the highrock in anticipation.

Blazepaw purred and looked up at Darkstar.

Blizzardshine couldn’t hold back a soft chuckle as she listened to the conversation between her clanmates and the two soon-to-be-warriors as the clan gathered beneath the Highrock “Today we are here to hold not one but two ceremonies that are really overdue. First I would like to give them an apology and let them know that they are really important members of the clan, hoping that they don’t feel offended by this delay” After speaking her gaze landed on the two younger cats “Blazepaw, Grasspaw, please, step forward”.

Her anticipation grew with every word Blizzardshine spoke. This was becoming more and more real. Grasspaw stepped forward and looked up at the deputy.
