Something Seems to Be Lost [open]

A small black shape stirred in the nursery, her white ears and whiskers twitching in anticipation. Her dream felt so real. It was shivering cold outside, even if leaf-bare was all she'd yet known, but even through the crisp, chilly weather, she could smell and hear the scent of her prey so perfectly. She'd seen it brought into camp and heard the warriors describe it before. It was a big, plump, juicy...

Her green eyes flicked open. Sure enough, in the corner of the den, hopped along a lost little animal, slipped in from a nearby hole in the brambles. The young she-kit gasped loudly. "Frog!!"

Rustkit heard her, and padded over, poking her with his forepaw.

"Want to try to catch it?!" He says excitedly, his ears perked up. He jumps back so she can stand and his small tail wiggles back and forth, as he waits for a response.

Smokekit was curled up in his own corner of the den, watching his tail flicker back and forth with mild interest. Whenever it would settle, he would quickly attempt to catch it with his paws only for it to slip away only for him to repeat the process in a little game of sorts. His stomach rumbled softly, the scent of prey thick in the air. His nose quivered but his eyes never left his tail until a loud gasp left Ravenkit as she cried into the air.

He jumped, quickly onto his paws as his gaze flashed around the den as he tried to find out what had caught Ravenkit's attention until he saw it - a real living frog hopping around in the other corner of the den. His eyes quickly widen as he darted across the den toward where Ravenkit and Rustkit were gathered, doing his best not to make a sound before he came to a stop at his denmates' side. "A frog!" he gasped with a flicker of his tail, crouching down next to them. As Rustkit offered the idea of catching it, Smokekit quickly nodded."Yeah! We can show everyone that we are ready to become apprentices!" he whispered with a smile.

Rustkit runs after smokekit, his fur flying everywhere, and he jumps onto the frog, which is close to the same size as him.

"Yeah!!" He sounds excited, "We'll show them we are ready to be apprentices any day!!"

At first, she had been excited to work with the others to catch it, nodding eagerly at Rustkit and Smokekit. She considered waking up her brothers too, but it wasn't everyday a frog was just hopping around on it's own... They should have been able to take it down fine, right? The she-kit got down low-wiggling her haunches before next thing she knew, Rustkit ran in and tackled the entire thing with his whole body.

"Hey, no fair!" She shouted, her fur fluffing out. "I saw it first!" She made another pounce for it. The frog had easily manage to wiggle away and slip through her grasp, making a run for it past Smokekit.

Rustkit laughed and rolled off of the frog, playfully bouncing past ravenkit, and batting her ears with his fluffy paws. He jumps onto smokekit, tackling him, and jumps off quickly.

"You can't catch me!!" He yells as he scampers around the nursery.

Smokekit barely had time to react before Rustkit jumped forward and tackled the frog with Ravenkit annoyingly following after him. The black and gray kit stood there for a few baffled seconds as the frog managed to slip from under Rustkit's and Ravenkit's grasp* and started to head toward him. In a second, he was crouching down ready to stop it but was taken by surprise when Rustkit suddenly slammed into him before jumping off and dashing away. "But the frog!" Smokekit wailed as he struggled to his paws, his eyes flashing to the frog. Standing in its path of escape, he attempted to ruffled up his fur in a hope to scare it away from the exit or at least have it pause enough that Ravenkit could catch it.

Ravenkit shook her head as the other cat battered away at it, laughing and leaping away from her. Oh, she'd catch him alright, sometime... Then he'd get a clawful of her! "You big - why I should -" The she-kit frowned, growling under her breath. Whatever. The frog was still hers! She made a big run for it again, leaping on top of the frog - but it was so slippery!

Rustkit laughs as she attempts to catch the frog by jumping on top of it.

"Slippery isn't it?" He says chuckling, "That's why I fell off earlier."

He jumped after the other two kits, going over to smokekit to help keep the frog from leaving the nursery.

The frog was cornered - with Ravenkit cutting off its route away from Smokekit and Rustkit was helping keeping it from escaping into the camp clearing it would be fair game for all cats...Perhaps there was hope to catch it still. His eyes narrowed as he crouched next to Rustkit, taking a leap at the frog as Ravenkit failed to pin it down again. But Smokekit had an idea. He landed on the frog but instead of attempting to cling to it, he swiped at its legs with his tiny claws hoping to impair its movement. If it couldn't escape, then it didn't matter that they couldn't pin it down - it would be an easy game.
