Looking for Prey [Open Patrol]

Blizzardshine padded towards the entrance of camp with her usual smile. She had noticed that the fresh-kill pile had been getting low lately, and to be fully honest she wasn't that surprised. With Leaf-fall making the temperatures get lower and Leafbare getting nearer, most prey was starting to become somewhat hard to find even in the best hunting spots of the forest.

Trying to see the bright side of things, she decided to consider this as a really good opportunity to gather some apprentices and take them on a hunting patrol, allowing her and their mentors see how their hunting skills were developing, or maybe even just some warriors so their own skills wouldn't get rusty "Anyone up to go on a hunting patrol???"

"I can come!" The new, bright russet apprentice bounced up to Blizzardshine, her eyes hopeful. "Pinewhisker never takes me out, anyway." With that thought, Emberpaw frowned, annoyance getting the best of her.
"Can you please take me out? I don't even really know how to catch a bird." She looked up at the spotted white warrior, slightly embarrassed.

Blizzardshine looked at the younger she-cat and nodded with a smile “I’m sure Pinewhisker is just busy, leafbare is getting near and prey is running low, forcing the whole clan to work way harder than before just to keep everyone fed” Blizzardshine knew that these days were filled with work for all the clan as they prepared for the harsh Leafbare “Let’s make a deal, ok? If you manage to spot a bird on this patrol, I’ll teach you one of my favorite bird hunting techniques” The spotted warrior purred, hoping to cheer Emberpaw up a bit before raising her head and looked around, wanting to see if anyone else was also willing to join them.

"Alright!" Emberpaw agreed happily. Her muzzle turned up, relaxed, as she sat beside the experienced warrior. She felt so…grown up sitting next to Blizzardshine.
The auburn apprentice let out a purr as she scanned the clearing, watching for any other cats that might want to join their currently small patrol.

Mottledpaw walked up to the patrol, and gave a grin towards Emberpaw. "May I join?" Mottledpaw asked, and glanced at Blizzardshine. The she-cat who was even a warrior when her father was just an apprentice was an amazing cat, and Mottledpaw knew she could always count on Blizzardshine in times of need. Good words have followed her, reputation near-flawless, and she was one of Mottledpaw's many idols. She was brave, respectful, and calm under fire. Blizzardshine was the assistant to Mistywater, her grandmother, and Blizzardpaw when Blacktwig's former and deceased mentor, Sedgewhisker, was an insignificant apprentice... just like Mottledpaw was.

Blizzardshine smiled as Mottledpaw approached them, nodding as soon as her question reached her ears “Sure, the more the merrier” Right then and there, she could really use as much help as she could get, knowing how hard finding prey was going to be with the plummeting temperatures. The cold, however, also seemed to be working its way into the apprentice’s and warrior’s minds, making them think it twice before going out on patrols in any time that wasn’t during sunhigh, the warmest time of the day “If nobody else joins us soon we may need to get going” She informed to the two younger cats.

Mottledpaw nodded, seeming ready to head off at any given time. She looked to Emberpaw, just to make sure that the younger she-cat was alright.

Fernpaw walked up to the group. Could I come to? I need to learn to hunt as well. Shadowglow and I haven't done any training yet, and I would like to get a little bit of practice before our first session. Fernpaw really wanted to go on this patrol, it would be his very first!

Blizzardshine smiled and nodded at Fernpaw, flicking her tail as a sign for the apprentices to follow her as she padded out of camp. The patrol should be big enough now, and if any other cat wanted to join them they would need to catch up with them.

Skipping eagerly after the older warrior, Mottledpaw braced herself to learn fascinating new things. She was almost a warrior herself, after all, and she needed to be as experienced as she could be.

Emberpaw jumped to her paws, following Blizzardshine eagerly. She sighed contentedly, letting out a grin, before leaping before the apprentices and dashing forward, meaning to at least try to catch a mouse or squirrel before she got to practice hunting birds.
