Moonlight smiled as she walked inside the apprentice’s den, looking around for her apprentice. It was time for some training, and though it was a bit too late to join any patrol she knew what they could do so that day didn’t go to waste “Eaglepaw? Are you in here?” Almost right after she made the question her blue eyes landed on the small figure of the young apprentice, a smile soon forming on her muzzle “It’s time to do some training”.

Eaglepaw leapt up at the sound of his mentor's voice. All of his muscles tensed in anticipation.
"Of course, Moonlight," He dipped his head to her in a respectful greeting," What are we doing first? Hunting? Battle practice? Maybe exploring the territory?". Every option excited the over-enthusiastic young tom. While most of him hoped to start of battle practice, he wanted to learn everything all at once. His unusually long claws kneaded the ground anxiously.

OCC: Idk Moonlight's personality, but her training him and their mentor/apprentice relationship is going to heavily influence what kind of character he develops. He is very ambitious, but it could become either for good or bad. Up to you :)

Moonlight chuckled and twitched her whiskers happily, the apprentice’s enthusiasm making her feel really eager to start the training as well “Today I’ll teach you the basics of hunting and battling so nothing can take you off-guard on your future patrols. Follow me” With that Moonlight walked out of camp, heading towards a nearby training area.

Eaglepaw growled in satisfaction. This sounded exactly like what he'd been hoping to hear. Thankfully, he seemed to have gotten a mentor that could match his energy. And he was so glad that they weren't doing anything boring. He charged after the warrior she-cat.

After a short time of walking, Moonlight reached a small clearing near to camp and looked at the younger cat with a smile “What do you want to learn first? Hunting or fighting?” Moonlight was aware that, with the plummeting temperatures, a hunting lesson would take longer than average. In her personal opinion, this made battle training the best option for what they had to do first, but she wanted to let Eaglepaw chose.

Eaglepaw took in the surroundings, noting everything and thinking proudly to himself that this was all his clan's. At his mentor's words, his ears perked up.
"Fighting," He hissed, flexing his claws eagerly. Eaglepaw had waited moons for the chance to hone his battle skills. More than anything, he wanted to channel his determination into skillful fighting along with the brute force he already possessed.

OOC: Want me to make the first move so you see how it is done, or you want to try first so I can give you some directions and tell you if you’re doing something wrong???

Moonlight nodded, getting in position before the apprentice “This fight will be without claws for obvious reasons” She instructed to the apprentice, knowing that he could forget this obvious fact in his eagerness to start “You need to remember that you should only fight if there is no other way out of a discussion and to defend you clan and those you love. Killing must be avoided as much as possible as well, and if you ever kill a cat, I hope it is an accident and nothing more. Cats that kill for pleasure or when they can simply defeat or chase off the opponent are dishonorable monsters that shouldn’t even be called a warriors to begin with” Her tone turned serious and her words were somewhat slower so the apprentice didn’t miss a single thing. She had seen a lot of terribly brutal fights that could easily avoided and cats dying in her past, and the terrible consequences and the pain from the families of the murdered cats. Those events had left deep scars within the warrior’s mind and soul, making unnecessary fights and killing something terrible on the she-cats eyes.

OCC: Eaglepaw would probably want to attack first

Eaglepaw's ears twitched at Moonlight's words. He had always been eager to sink his claws into the first non-Skyclan cat that he came across. In his head, he had thought it honorable to kill another cat for the sake of the clan. The way she put it made sense to him thought. Part of him now felt ashamed for having the desire to take out another cat. He nodded slowly to his mentor, and put his claws away, waiting for her instructions.

OOC: Got it, if you have any questions just ask, ok? Also remember that this is also battle system training, so try to use it and not throw wild random attacks.

“With that out of the way” Moonlight took a defensive pose, her eyes locked on the apprentice, ready to evaluate his raw skills “Come on, hit me with all you’ve got. I need to evaluate your current ability to teach you how to fight a true warrior” Her eyes were studying Eaglepaw’s every move, her body tense and ready to take whatever he could throw at her

OCC: Okay, thanks. Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

The apprentice's muscles tensed in anticipation. His mind flashed back to play fighting with his younger brother in the nursery and he tried to remember some of the things he had used to trick the other tom. After the moment's hesitation, he sprang at his mentor and tried to strike her with his front paws.

The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training] Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training]   The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training] EmptyMon 14 Nov 2016 - 22:14

OOC:

Hmmm…ok, you aren’t using the battle system…I’ll go Out of Character for a bit to explain this to you, if you have questions or get confused, just ask:

The battle system is what you’ll use in any serious battle here. In the rank system (Link to Rank System) you’ll see that each rank has an HP number and an SP number:

-HP stands for “Hit Points”, or, in other words, your cat’s “life”. Now, if your HP hits “0” you won’t die, you simply get KO’ed, what means that a medicine cat can’t heal you and you can’t battle anymore. You can see how much damage each move does depending on your rank below the SP cost and effect Move Chart.
-SP stands for “Stamina Points”, now, the battle system (Link to Battle System) consists on many moves, some general for all the cats, others exclusive for each clan. Each move has a certain cost of SP, and if your SP hits “0” your cat is considered to be too tired to keep fighting anymore.

There are two kind of moves: The regular moves, that have no effect, and the special moves, in which you can find certain restrictions or effects where you have to roll a dice (You can find this option under the post area when making a regular post, so if you need to roll a dice you can’t just use the quick reply system) and, depending on the dice, it is how long the effect lasts. You can see which effect each move has, if any, and the numbers that you need to get from the dice roll so it lasts a certain time. Remember to read the rules above the moves as well.

Let’s try a regular move first, to see if you grasp that. Then we can try a dice-roll move so you see how it is done. I'll also use italics on the battle system I use to let you know what is each thing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moonlight raised her ears, blocking the tom’s move with her flank. She had to admit that the blow was stronger than she expected, but those were nothing but moves used while play fighting in the nursery, and regardless how smart they could be, those kind of moves would be nothing but a joke to a fully trained warrior “You’re fairly strong, though you need to learn to not hesitate before attacking, in a real fight, even one heartbeat of hesitation can be what your opponent needs to defeat you” After taking a step back and this time taking a more offensive position the silver tabby decided to talk once more “You also lack a lot of technique, any warrior would be able to easily block those moves like I did and come out unharmed from a battle with you. Now, let me show you a way in which you can attack without that risk” Moonlight decided to use the most basic of the moves in her arsenal, as she wanted to go easy on the apprentice, this was his first time in what could be considered a simulation of a real battle.
Moonlight used Front Paw Blow on Eaglepaw, dealing 9 damage and using 5 stamina <~ (You must state which cat uses which move, and who are they attacking. After that you must first state the damage dealt and then the stamina taken away through the use of said move)
Eaglepaw: <~ (The opponent/s usually go on top)
11/20 <~ (Opponent’s remaining HP Vs. Original HP, you must subtract the points of damage dealt on the left side)
80/80 <~ (Opponent’s SP, you can’t modify this)
Moonlight: <~ (Your attacking cat usually goes on the bottom)
60/60 <~ (Your HP, you can’t modify this)
195/200 <~ (Your remaining SP Vs. Original SP, you must subtract the SP used on the left side)
OCC: Okay, this is way more complicated than I initially thought! Thank you for explaining it all.
Eaglepaw nodded tightly. While he knew rationally that he shouldn't beat himself up for not yet knowing the proper moves, he was frustrated in not knowing more. But he clung onto his mentor's words and made sure to watch and try to memorize each motion, no matter how simple. He shrunk back as she attacked him. However, he kept in the back of his mind her warning about hesitation. Without taking a second to verbally reply, the apprentice stuck back quickly, aiming for her shoulder.
"Like that?" He ventured, hoping he had done something right.
Eaglepaw used front paw blow on Moonlight, dealing 9 damage and using 5 stamina
Moonlight:
51/60
195/200
Eaglepaw:
11/20
75/80
The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training] Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training]   The Eagle and the Moon [Closed Training] EmptyWed 16 Nov 2016 - 7:40
OOC:
Careful!!! The stamina cost is the same in all ranks, but the damage dealt is not. Eaglepaw is only an apprentice, so that move only can do 4 damage points. Moonlight does 9 because she’s in Warrior rank. Remember to check the damage chart in the Battle System link I gave you earlier if you have any doubts about that. Also this is only a “Battle System Training”, so the HP and SP refill themselves after each turn, given that Moonlight isn’t trying to hurt her apprentice and vice-versa. This won’t happen on a real fight though, so keep that in mind
Now comes a more tricky part, though fairly simple once you get used to it: The dice roll attacks. These attacks are in the special attack rank, but what differences them from the rest special attacks is that the effects these can inflict on the opponent vary depending on the number the dice gives to you, you can check the effects on the Battle System as well. Here are the steps you need to follow to use them:
-Click the “Preview” button instead of the “Send” one after typing your post
-Right under the post box you'll see the "Dices Roll" one. In the Blank box, pick "Effect Dice"
-Click "Send"
You'll see that there will be an automatic generated post right after yours, there you'll see the number you got from the dice roll. Compare it with the Battle System table and you'll get the number of turns that the opponent will be under such effects. When a cat is under the effects of one of these moves they can't attack until the number of turns is up, meaning that if they are stunned for one turn, they must post but can't do anything to harm your cat or any other cat during that post (1 Post = 1 Turn). Remember that moves that leave a cat defenseless like this one can't be used in succession, this is to avoid stunning a cat over and over again, winning the fight because you didn't allowed them to hit back.
Since this isn't a real battle the effects from the dice get nullified, meaning that you're allowed to attack on your next turn regardless of what I may get in the Dices Roll.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Moonlight twitched her whiskers with a smile, clearly pleased “Yes, yes, you get the basics! Now, I think you’re ready to learn some more complicated moves. These moves are a lot more potent and can even leave your opponent defenseless for a short amount of time if performed correctly, giving you a huge advantage in battle” Moonlight got ready once more “Watch closely” With that, the she-cat sprang onto Eaglepaw’s back, just like she had done several times against other cats in her past during real battles, pinning him down to the ground “As you can see, this move doesn’t allows your opponent to attack while you can deal constant damage, though depending on how well you performed it your opponent may be able to shake you off sooner or later” Moonlight then let go of her apprentice “Your turn, try it on me!”.

Moonlight used Leap-and-hold on Eaglepaw, dealing 11 damage and using 10 stamina. Eaglepaw is pinned down for 2 turns <~ (The number of turns your opponent is affected must be edited in at the end of this phrase after you get the dice roll numbers. In this case I got a 4, what means that in a real battle your cat would be pinned down for two turns)

Eaglepaw:
9/20
80/80

Moonlight:
60/60
190/200

OCC: Ohhh okay. This is making much more sense. So, I should probably keep the other page open during battles so I can keep track of how much damage my cat should be able to do. I think I'm finally starting to get it all haha

Eaglepaw let out a grunt as the older cat landed on his back, but he tried to not let it stun him. As soon as she jumped off, he was ready. With a yowl, the tom sprang onto his mentor's with his claws out just enough to keep him from slipping off and also making sure not to actually harm the she-cat.

Eaglepaw used leap and hold on Moonlight, dealing 6 damage and using 10 stamina, Moonlight is pinned down for 1 turn

Moonlight:
54/60
200/200

Eaglepaw:
20/20
70/80
