An abandoned kit (Flamekit's arrival)

A tiny, dark red-orange kit curled shivering in a patch of marsh grasses. His pelt was soaked. No cat stood around to comfort the tiny scrap or claim it as their own. Pitiful mews escaped it's mouth and echoed into the marshy land around him, hoping that someone might hear it.

Hazepaw was out hunting when she passed the orange lump.She glanced at the kit and saw how desperate it was and felt its pain.Hazepaw had only just found out her mentor was dead,and she to had been abandoned as a kit.She knew how he felt and padded closer."are you OK,little one?"She mewed trying hard to stop herself from cracking.The usual bubbly,chatty and independent Hazepaw had been replaced by a moody,depressed and selfish one.The silver Bengal plopped herself down waiting for his reply.

The little scrap of fur squirmed uncomfortable on the damp group. He was too young to remember much. All he could think about was the milk scent of his mother and her soft, silky fur. Where was she?
"My mother is gone," He whimpered, glancing around as if she would appear and desperately trying to conjure up a mental image of the she-cat that birthed him. When nothing happened, he stared up at the apprentice with wide, terrified eyes.

The lithe apprentice looked at the kit smiling."I could take you back to camp,maybe another cat will adopt you.My mentor,Mudfoot would or Tigerflower.She's my adoptive mother,I was abandoned too."She meowed.Hazepaw couldn't believe that a cat would abandon a kit but she had been abandoned too.If no one adopts him I'll adopt him,even if I'm only an apprentice, she thought.Maybe adopting a kit would help to take her mind off Adderfur's death,but clan rules probably wouldn't allow her to.

The nameless, shivering kit pressed himself into the she-cat's thicker pelt. She seemed nice. He couldn't remember much of anything prior to being lost, so he had no choice but to trust the older cat.
"Okay," He mewed softly.

Hazepaw gave the kit a lick between the ears.Before getting to her paws.The silver she glanced back at the fiery orange tom with a smile.Hazepaw slowly padded towards camp

He padded after her on unsteady, tiny paws and trusted that this stranger knew what she was doing.

Hazepaw smiled as the young kit followed.
