Don't You Ever Wish That?

Mistywater laid in the nursery, she always loved mornings when the bright day shone and the heat was so warm. She just loved all the peacefulness of it. As she thought about Swiftheart again she felt a wince of pain as she remembered she was on her way to having kits, she still hated the thought of Swiftheart not being there when he was needed, he would love to be at her side she guessed, but he would get caught if he did even try sneaking out.

She felt a another sting of a larger amount this time, oh how much she wished that birth wasn't so hard - or painful actually. She knew it was time. Quickly grabbing a stick she pushed, feeling as a bundle of fur went against her, Mistywater weakly smiled and pushed the kit towards her pushing again as she waited for the next kit.

Blackpaw entered the nursery, pawsteps silent as the warm moss shallowed the sting of cold rocks. He breathed a sigh, powerful blue gaze noticing his mother as she kitted. His fur bristled with alarm, rushing to his mother's side promptly. "Mistywater!" Blackpaw gasped, the experienced apprentice rimming the edges of the nursery nervously. He flexed his claws anxiously.

What can I do? Blackpaw thought with alarm. He had never dealt with birth before, and had never intended to. He crouched, his underbelly's longer fur draping and brushing the moss. He attempted to remember Dreamleaf's muffled remarks, quite hastily indeed. "Uhh..." He hesitated. "Can I get you some wet moss?" He wasn't certain if it was correct, yet these were his rather piteous attempts. In other cases he might've seemed clever and confident, yet now he seemed like a confused fuzzball.

Cloverpool heard from the den next door, Blackpaw's shouts. She picked her head up and padded into the nursery. "Blackpaw," She purred and padded over draping her tail over his shoulders. "Calm down and go get your mother some wet moss please. I can handle the rest, I've done so many of these you've got no idea." The tortoiseshell warrior meowed flicking her tail.

Meadowpaw had almost been asleep in a, very nice, patch of sunlight when she heard her brothers panicked voice say their mothers name. She jumped to her paws and raced to the nursery to see what was going on. She sighed in relief as she heard what Cloverpool said as she raced through the entrance. She nuzzled her mom before looking at Cloverpool."Is there something I can do?" she asked hopeful to be of some help. "Mom do you need anything?" she asked, glancing at her mother.

Blackpaw sprinted away to fetch some wet moss for his mother, his mind swiftly at work. What will they be named? Will I get to see them soon? Or will they keep me away? He hissed quietly at the final thought, bending down and snatching moss, dampened by morning dew, in his powerful jaws. He trotted back, quickening his pace, as to not be too late.

"Ok good now set it in front of your mother and let her drink some of the water." Cloverpool instructed.

Blackpaw set in in front of Mistywater nervously, shaking in his pelt. He strained to hold back a yelp of question, yet a small whimper escaped from him. He didn't want the birth to go haywire. "What else, Cloverpool?" He asked quickly, arms crossed as his eyes drilled a hole in the ground, avoiding eye contact. He seemed so unkempt and anxious.

Cloverpool purred. "Just stay calm the rest is up to Mistywater. She'll push when she feels the urge to." She explained.

Blackpaw nodded obediently, sitting down on the warmed moss. He flinched as he watched the commotion outside of the nursery. He wondered if Dreamleaf would notice.

Mistywater cringed and pushed once more, waiting patiently, though it didn't look like it.

Blackpaw settled down, waiting for it to pass. He wasn't comfortable enough to groom his slightly matted fur, yet in his eyes sparked a twinkle of indifference. His tail curled around him amply. His maw stay straight, emotionless, as he parted his jaws in a yawn.
