A Wisp Of Smoke May Cause A Fire (OPEN)

Smokekit curled up in the patch of moss he had dragged out from the nursery. He had struggled to make it comfortable, and now he proudly scanned the clearing with his eyes narrowed. Clan life was boring. Well, maybe not clan life, but kithood. Not for all, but he was the shy kit, the one to shy to ask to be friends, or to shy to not hide away if someone came. He shock his head and started licking his paw as he had noticed the older warriors doing, and he passed it over his ear.

Blossompaw filed into camp, her tail high as she strutted in without a care in the world. Ivyfall's look of disgust didn't perturb her at all as she picked out a trout to maul today. She couldn't eat in this body, but that didn't mean she couldn't get the satisfaction of tearing it to shreds. And, it seemed that she had an audience, little Smokekit was glancing over at her on top of a piece of moss.

Claws keeping it in place, the tabby dug her teeth into the belly of the fish, tearing out it's organs in a visceral spray that covered her muzzle and the floor with guts, bile and blood. It was filthy, bloody and she loved it.

The former deputy, Ivyfall, simply looked on in disgust for a little while longer before stalking out of camp, leaving Blossompaw alone with Smokekit by accident.

"So, kit. What a bite?" Blossompaw nudged a mangled piece of fish towards him.

Smokekit followed the apprentice stalking proundly in camp with his gaze. The cat seemed laid back, but her attitude gave the little tom an urge to run. He witnessed the she-cat tear theough the body of a dish, spraying the ground bellow her with filthy remains and cobered in dirty, stinking blood. The tom widdened his eyes eben more as the she-cat came at him, the fish dangling into her gaze. Her twitched away involuntary at the invite to eat the scarred meat.
"N-no thanks, I ate." he lied to evade her offer. The truth was that he had intended to take some fresh-kill.

Taking pleasure in how the little kit's eyes widened, the Dark Forest cat took another step closer with the mangled fish nudged forward with her paw. "I'm bein' gracious and offerin' you some of my kill. Don't. Be. Rude." Her other paw, she used to pull the kit in and press his face close to the dirt covered piece of meat. There was a malicious glint in her eyes, the former RiverClan cat didn't really care about manners but scaring little kits was too fun. He'd eat it and then some, if she had her way.

"Back off, Blossompaw." Tawnypaw padded up to the kit and dead apprentice, a silent hostility towards the latter glinting in her green eyes. "You're a disgusting monster."
She looked in disgust at the fish, and returned her steely, intimidatingly and serious gaze to Blossompaw. She was fed up with cruel cats like this, and was going to speak her mind whether they liked it or not.

The stink of rotten food filled his nostrills and he twisted away in disgust and fear. He snapped away and tumbled awkwardly onto his back, smelling odly, his fur matted with crusts of mud and dried fish blood. He curled away to defend himself and stared up at his unknown savior. She was a nice she-cat, looking about large enough to be an apprentice, quite the opposite of the second apprentice, who seemed like she crawled out of a grave. He wished he could run, but he stood frozen. His blood slowly began to boil as he thought of the beautiful she-cat being hurt. His small claws unravveled from under the powder of dark-gray fur and he frowned. No, she won't hurt her. he told himself.

So he leaped. With an short start that was more like a tumble, he leapt and... landed clumsily at the evil cat's feet.

Tawnypaw gave a little snort. "It's alright, I can defend myself." She popped out her long claws, glinting in the sunlight. They looked more than capable to do some serious damage.

Smokekit felt the air get knocked out of him. Her gazed down, his wide eyes clouded. His mind was bubbling and his heart hammering into his chest. He wanted to yowl, but he couldn't. He gathered himself upwards shamefully and tore away through the camp, his face hidded.

Tawnypaw shot a cold death stare at Blossompaw, and followed the kit. Normally she didn't really give so much as a foxdung for random kits, but she had to see if this one was alright. She caught up with him, and padded alongside him.

"I'm okay, no need to bother..." he grunted as the she-cat caught up with her. He really felt like curling up to sleep, but the queens were enjoying their talk and he didn't want to disturb. He realized he should really clean himself, so he turned towards the apprentice slightly. "Uh, where can I clean my pelt...? It stink..." he added as to proove he wasn't joking.

"You got that one right...." Tawnypaw grunted, and then remembered to smile. "Just lick yourself clean, you know? Well, its a bit gross, your pelt now though. I'd normally say take a dip in the river but your're too young - you'd drown. Maybe find a puddle or something, don't ask me."

Smokekit nodde and prepared to stalk away, but he stopped and turned back at the she-cat shyly. "W-what's your name?" he asked. "I'm Smokekit." he added hastily.

Tawnypaw gave a lopsided smile, almost a smirk. "Tawnypaw. Mind you, I'll be a warrior soon, so don't get too used to it."

"Alright..." he whispered and left to search for a puddle to clean himself into. His mind was spinning as he imagined how old she was besides him. Yet he couldn't stop thinking she was nice...

Tawnypaw watched the kit go wash himself. Smoke kit was a bit of a fluffball, for lack of a better word, but he was good intentioned. Hm. Maybe she would be his mentor when he became an apprentice.

(I like to think of this as Smokekit having a bit of a crush on her, lol. He's basically Dipper and she's Wendy, haha.)
