Stormkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to hunt their prey, gather underneath the Tall Rock for a clan meeting." The she-cat yowled from her place up upon the mighty rock. She didn't feel particularly comfortable in her role yet, but she was more confident than before. This would be a new generation under her.

Storming bounded out of the nursery at top speed, flying across the camp. She could barely contain her excitement - she was about to become a apprentice. She was going to learn to hunt and fight. She was going to have more freedom! Her tail twitched excitedly.

"Stormkit, step forward." The she-cat ordered with a fond gaze.

Stormkit bounded forward, a huge grin plastered on her face. While all this Dark Forest business was unsettling, she could barely contain her excitement about being apprenticed, and besides, her new leader's warm gaze make her feel at home. WindClan is my home, she thought, and it'll be proud of me!

Flashstorm padded over and sat down as the ceremony started. He took a place near the front and watched as Stormkit was made into an apprentice.

Stormkit stood a little straighter when she saw Flashstorm appear. He was a cat loyal to the Dark Forest like Saltpelt. She couldn't say that she liked having her apprentice ceremony under them, but hey, it was better than not having one at all. But yet, she still couldn't contain the excitement and extreme pride of her heritage.

"Stormkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Stormpaw." Saltpelt said solemnly. "Stormpaw, your mentor will be Flashstorm, he is my deputy and I know he will teach you well."

Flashstorm looked at Stormpaw and stepped over to the apprentice to touch noses with her.

Stormpaw touched noses with her mentor, her heart lurching with a combination of fear and a strange, bittersweet happiness, as she put on a smile. A half real one.
