Patrol for Horsepaw

Breezeheart sat at the entrance of camp waiting on her apprentice.

Horsepaw padded out of the apprentice's den and over to her mentor, Breezeheart. "I-I'm ready.." she newed.

"Alright let's go then." The Black Warrior said. Breezeheart lead her apprentice out of camp and into the middle of the territory. "We are just going to do some simple hunting today. By the end of it we both should have caught two pieces, each. I want you to go first so I can see how you stance looks, and correct it if need be."

"O-okay..." Horsepaw replied as they padded out into the territory. Horsepaw scented the air and smelled fresh rabbit. She went down into a hunter's crouch until she spotted it ruffling among the tall grasses about eight fox lengths away from her. She padded forward slowly, making sure that each paw was placed silently, until she was only a few tail lengths away from her target. Horsepaw then jumped and chased after the rabbit making sure that her legs were going at full stride. She was in reach of her prey when she jumped and landed on her prey, quickly nipping its neck. She turned around and faced her mentor and quietly asked, "H-how was that?".

Breezeheart nodded. "Good." And now it was her turn. The black warrior wandered for a moment before spotting a bird picking through the grass. Crouching low the warrior moved forward until she was close enough. Once she was she jumped on the bird pinning it then killing it. Two out of four. They both needed to get one more.

Horsepaw watched as her mentor caught a bird. Horsepaw scented the air again and smelled another bird. She went into a crouch when she spotted it, no far from where she already was. She quietly stalked about two tail lengths closer before pouncing and killing her prey.

Breezheart was watching her apprentice when she saw a rabbit hop by a distance away. Quickly the black warrior took off after it chasing it down until she managed to catch it and kill it. The warrior quickly made her way back over, and sat down the rabbit with her other piece of prey. "Seems like we are both done. Come on let's head back to camp."

"Okay..." Horsepaw mewed, her voice muffled with the fur of her catch. She followed her mentor and padded back to camp.
