| Gentlenose left her kits with Jayflight, knowing he'd take good care of them. It wouldn't hurt them to be without their mother for half a day. It was time for Scorchpaw's assessment, and Gentlenose didn't want to hold her apprentice back. Scorchpaw nodded, standing quickly. "Yes, Gentlenose." He looked towards his friend, who was with his kits. It was a strange feeling, knowing his mentor was his best friend's mate. What was once a forbidden alliance between Jayflight and Scorchpaw was now just your average clan connection. They were nearly the same age, him and Jayflight, but Scorchpaw wasn't apprenticed until after Spottedstar died. "Your kits are beautiful, by the way," he said with a genuine smile. Gentlenose followed Scorchpaw's gaze to Jayflight and the kits, a loving glow in her amber eyes. "Thank you, Scorchpaw. All I ask is that they do their bests," she sighed, turning away. The she cat exited the barn, trusting her apprentice would follow. "Alright, here's the deal. I want you to catch six pieces of prey. I'll be watching you, so do your best," she gave Scorchpaw the instructions for his assessment. "Whenever you're ready," she nodded. ______________________________________ Characters:
