A Fateful Encounter

Gentlepaw snuck back into Thunderclan territory, her stomach growling. Why couldn't they just beat us and leave? Why take our territory as well? Are they heartless monsters? Where are we supposed to live? Where are we supposed to find our food? The thoughts alone were enough send tears to the apprentice's eyes. After a heart beat or two, she told herself to stop. Wailing about it like a kit will solve nothing. I'll bring food for my clan, even if I endanger my life. She padded further into the territory, Riverclan and Skyclan scents mingling to create a nasty odor. I'll be lucky if all the prey hasn't been chased out. She thought bitterly.

Jaypaw had scented a ThunderClan apprentice Probably that stupid apprentice from earlier he thought. He padded along still the cent was strong, his gray gaze looked through the trees. The scent was getting stronger, he shook his head then running into a body and knocking both of the apprentices over. He quickly got up and unsheathed his claws ready for a fight "Who are you! Why are you here!" he ordered.

Gentlepaw didn't realize their was a Skyclan apprentice nearby until his body slammed into hers, sending her to the ground. She didn't get up immediately, instead staring fearfully up at the tom. "Please, don't hurt me! Our kits are so hungry, and we can't find any prey to feed them... Our warriors are beaten and exhausted, in no shape to hunt! Please, have mercy! Would you really sit idly by as innocent kits starved to death? Where is the kindness in your heart?" her voice trembled as she spoke. Gentlepaw wasn't much of a fighter, she was obviously at a disadvantage. Her choice left was to talk her way out of the mess. She would be in big trouble if the tom called for back up.

Jaypaw stared at the cat not knowing she was a she-cat, his gaze turned soft. He nodded, her voice was so fearful. She didn't sound so aggressive, he thought "What's your name?" he asked calmly sheathing his claws.

Gentlepaw slowly got to her paws, still weary of the tom. "My name is Gentlepaw." she spoke slowly, not meeting the tom's gaze.

OOC: I don't if you know that he's blind or not but ya, just wanted to say that now so you don't get all confused in the future.

Jaypaw slowly nodded, Gentlepaw had a beautiful voice. She seemed like the only one in ThunderClan who isn't violent to him or anyone else, he thought again "Gentlepaw..." he echoed "That's a pretty name" he mewed "I'm Jaypaw" he announced bravely "It's nice to meet you Gentlepaw" he meowed in a friendly tone.

Gentlepaw blushed deeply at the tom's compliment. "T-thank you..." she stammered, a bit thrown off. Why was he being so kind to her? "Won't your leader become angry if they found out you were allowing Thunderclan scum like me back onto Thunderclan territory?" Bitterness entered her voice, but it wasn't directed at Jaypaw.

Jaypaw shrugged his shoulders "Probably, but I don't see how I could be caught" he mewed "What how could you say that!" he looked surprised "Your perfect!" he added touching noses with her.

Gentlepaw didn't respond, instead staring at the ground. "Your clan doesn't seem to think so..." she muttered. "I..." she hesitated, then turned away. "I... should go... I don't want to know what will happen if we get caught..." Gentlepaw took a step towards the border.

Jaypaw frowned, he had to do something "Wait, I need to tell you something!" his fur prickled with fear "I-I..." he searched "I kind of l-like you..." he murmured.

Gentlepaw was silent for a moment, her thoughts racing. After a few heartbeats, she pressed her muzzle close to Jaypaw's ear. "Meet me by sunning rocks in two sunrises." she whispered before bounding off into the undergrowth.

Jaypaw nodded and turned around heading off to camp, not speaking.
