A Rainy River

Dewpelt's stomach bulged almost down to the ground, 'soon.' she thought to herself. A sharp pain filled her whole body freezing her on the spot, "R-Rainst-storm, it's happening!" She yowled out loud, she needed her mate more than ever now. The kits were coming.

Snowpaw heard the yowl, but she didn't know what was happening, and ran over seeing what's wrong

Dewpelt noticed Snowpaw racing over, "P-please get Rainstorm." She stuttered and gritted her teeth.

When Snowpaw realized what was happening she ran to camp and called for Rainstorm "Rainstorm!Dewpelt says it's HAPPENING!"

Rainstorm's ear perked up at the sound of yowl piercing the silence of camp. There was no mistaking it. That was his mate. Jumping up onto his paws, the tom shook the moss from his fur and rushed towards the nursery. Snowpaw frantically called for him, his irritation growing stronger. "Calm down!" the warrior hissed and pushed past the apprentice.

Shoving his way in, he grabbed the stick that sat at the edge and brought it to Dewpelt. Since Wisteriasky's departure and the disappearance of Duskpaw, there were no medicine cats to take care those who needed attention. Part of him worried how he would handle his mate's kitting without their help, but thankfully, his mother was familiar with the process. The only thing he couldn't do was save her life if something went wrong.

Shoving the stick in front of his muzzle, he quickly settled in beside his mate. "Bite down and push." he ordered, his voice filled with strain.

Dewpelt nodded and bit down on the stick, when Rainstorm came all the pain was washed away, as she bit she pushed as hard as she could, at last the first kit was born, "Pinekit." She said exhausted but still smiling.

The warrior froze, the stress immediately leaving his body at the sight of his kit. He quickly nipped the sack, letting the small black she-cat out. Her fur was accented with brown paws and ears. Rainstorm was speechless. It didn't occur to him to move until he remembered there was no way she could survive if he didn't warm her up. Pulling Pinekit to his paws, he began roughly dragging his tongue across her wet fur, spreading warmth across her body. "Keep going," the warrior meowed through licks.

Dewpelt smiled and continued to push, bits of bark broke up into her mouth but that was the least of her worries. Eventually the pressure stopped once again and the beautiful second kit was born, "You- name her." She panted looking lovingly at the kit and Rainstorm.

Snowpaw stared with anger,care,and love for her sister's kits My sister is having kits! she thought

Rainstorm stopped his licking and looked down at the next kit. Nipping the sack like the first, he was somewhat startled to see golden fur. Neither his father nor mother were golden. How did this happen? Shaking the though from his head, the warrior picked up Pinekit and placed her in front of Snowpaw. "Keep licking her until she's clean and warm," the tom meowed and proceeded to do the same with the new kit.

His mind was blank. She wanted him to name her? Rainstorm might have been cocky, but names were not his strong suit. Goldenkit? No, it was too plain. There had to be something bigger, something stronger, something to represent the hopes he had for his kits.

"Lionkit," he whispered absentmindedly. The brown tom was slightly surprised by himself, although pleased with his choice. Lionkit was a name of strength and determination. Not only did it represent her sun-coloured fur, it represented the will and fire he knew she would grow up to have. Or, the will and fire he hoped she would have.

Snowpaw Kept Pinekit Warm and clean

Dewpelt saw the kits golden fur, startling her quite a bit, "That's a perfect name." She replied before starting to push again, the twig had now fully snapped in half but that wouldn't stop her, seconds past and a sleek white and orange coat kit was born, her tail and ears reminded her of that of a flower,
"Tu-lipkit would be a great name." She panted and used the last bit of energy she had into to pushing the last few times. At last the final kit was born with beautiful blue eyes and grey tabby fur, "What do you think of Aspenkit?" She said softly, licking Rainstorms ear and plonking back down half asleep.

Tulipkit Squealed As She Opened Her Eyes Early

Ic- Aspenkit mewled quietly as he was brought into the world, letting loose a series of shrieking mews. He struggled to suckle, as he was moving a lot.
