Let's Get Down to Business

Leopardfang hurried around the camp at dusk, gathering cats as he went. His patrol group was due to leave soon, at dusk. Cats were just waking for their nightly duties. The spotted tom only hoped that they could get out of there before Thrushstar came out to eye them suspiciously. The last thing this StarClan-forsaken clan needed was distrust being sown among its members. It was only fair, though; there had been many who had turned on the leader. It made sense for him to have such a difficult time putting his trust in others, as tragic as it was. Leopardfang growled to himself. He would not let any more traitors slip through his claws.

Tigerpaw stirred from her sleep. She was assigned to her father's group later than the other cats. She was glad that she'd be with at least one of her littermates, but the patrol would be boring and there would be endless lectures about 'clan loyalty' or 'sharing the burdens' from the so-called head captain. These new ranks were strange, but they sounded like they held some sort of power. Maybe if they were permanent she could be a captain too someday. Tigerpaw entertained the thought in her mind while she groomed herself and waited for the other members of the patrol group.

Viperpaw stirred in her nest, she knew it was time for a patrol. She growled slightly at the idea of getting up, but she would do what was needed for her clan's sake. Viperpaw stood up and arched her back in a long stretch before padding out of the apprentice's den and into the clearing. She scanned the area her eyes squinted to clarify the blurry details of the dark, but she eventually spotted her father and mentor, Leopardfang, and her littermate, Tigerpaw, waiting for the rest of the patrol. She trotted over to them quickly and settled down with them. "Did you sleep well?" she asked cautiously. She knew they probably didn't due to the troubles in Shadowclan, but she was close to them and wanted to seem at least social with her own clanmates.

Fracturedsnow woke quietly with an irritable flick of her tail. The idea of having to be in groups bothered her and she hated it and she didn't like it much at all. She knew the group she was assigned in would be going on patrol and she gave a low growl getting up. The usually timid and quiet she cat obviously not happy about the idea of the big group patrol but padded over staying quiet.

Eaglepaw woke up still feeling tired from her sleep, as she saw cats gathering outside which she knew were going on patrol. She quickly stretched and padded outside next to all the others and waited to go on patrol.

Dunepaw woke up quickly, and joined the gathering patrol of cats in the clearing.

Soulcloud opened his eyes and got up. He stretched quickly, and gave his white and silver spotted fur a quick grooming, then joined his former mentor and captain, Leopardfang. Nodding a greeting to the deputy, he sat down next to Fracturedsnow, and waited for them to start.
