Lets get down to business (Stags)

It was not long until Nightstalker found himself in the company of another apprentice, Frostedpaw. "Frostedpaw, get to your paws, we're going hunting." He meowed, prodding his apprentice awake before padding out of the den, careful not to trod on any toes. He narrowed his eyes at the dark forest cats that dared look his way, his amber eyes glaring menacingly as he turned his attention to the camp entrance, where he waited for his apprentice.

Frostedpaw sighed and rolled over to her back, her multi-colored eyes filled with annoyance. She missed Fawnpatch. Instead, now she actually had to be trained by Nightstalker. Sure, he wasn't the worst cat to have, but she still wasn't pleased and doubted he had anything important to teach her. She trudged to the camp entrance, silently standing in front of him and saying nothing. Her presence would be enough.

Nightstalker regarded his apprentice kindly, despite his previous hostile gaze. He quirked a brow at her posture but got to his paws without remark. He would not remark or degrade any cat for how they chose to hold themselves, just as long as they knew when to hold themselves strong, even if it was for show. "We'll be hunting in the marshes today, I want to test your skills. I want you to smell, identify, and hunt what you have chosen to. You are a Shadowclan cat, so I've no doubt you can succeed without much issue." Nightstalker mewed, partially encouraging, but ever the stern mentor he was, he did not wish to be too kind as he believed that it would not breed productivity but at least showing it would foster decent relationships.

Frostedpaw nodded, before looking past the tom to the entrance of the camp. "Alright." She said simply, before carefully picking her way around Nightstalker. The apprentice trudged through the marshes in silence, keeping her ears out for any sign of life as they headed to the deep marshes. Water squished under her paws and she sighed internally. She hated it here. Her mind wandered as they walked, a quiet whisper she couldn't quite identify buzzing in the back of her head. It had been there for a few days now, but she couldn't figure out what it was saying.

Finally, they made it to the marshes. The muck was strong here, and it was her least favorite spot in the territory. Rodents were rampant here, though. She began hunting. Soon enough, a rodent scampered over the muck. Crouching down, Frostedpaw lept and swiftly killed it, a squelch from the filth being the only sound, followed by a squeak.

Frostedpaw dropped the prey and stared silently at Nightstalker with an emotionless gaze.

"Good. I'll keep watch over it, go ahead and keep practicing." Nightstalker mewed, giving a soft nod and a slight, almost unseeable smile before shooing her off again.

Frostedpaw almost sighed. She really would have to keep going? Turning, she scented for more prey and stalked off silently. Soon enough, she found another rat, scampering over the muck. Carefully lining herself up, she pounced, and killed it. Leaving it behind, she stalked off to find another one until Nightstalker put her out of her torment.
