Pinepaw's Assessment

The grey and ginger tom shivered in the cold as he pawed impaitently at the hard, frosty dirt beneath him. It was time for one of his apprentices, Pinepaw, to get his assessment. It was going to be hard because it was leafbare, but it would prove that Pinepaw was able to catch prey when there wasn't much to catch. Thunderclan was needing some warriors like that. Frozenflame was going to bend the rules a bit because it was winter, though. He was going to decrease the amount of prey Pinepaw had to catch, but he was going to add something extra; Pinepaw had to beat him in a fight. No worries, Frozenflame was going to take it easy on him.

Pinepaw padded after his mentor, he shivered in the cold. He sniffed the air. Not much prey he thought to himself.

"Hello, Pinepaw," The mentor purred with a smile. "Ready for your assessment?" he asked. Without waiting for an answer, Frozenflame continued to speak. "As you can tell, there isn't much prey out, so I have changed the assessment a little bit. Instead of catching six pieces of prey, you only have to catch four, and then you have to beat me in a fight. I will be secretly watching you the whole time while you are hunting, so do your best. Your assessment starts now and ends at sunset, so I suggest you go quickly or else you may not make it in time. Now, go and hunt!"

Pinepaw shook himself and ran deeper I got the forest, he sniffed the air for any smells of prey, he soon caught the scent of a squirrel,he started to creep towards it making sure he was light on his paws so the crunching leaves wouldn't give him away. He was soon close enough to pounce when the leaf crunched under his paw. The squirrel ran to a tree and started to climb up it, Pinepaw quickly ran after jumping up with unsheathed claws and grabbed the squirrel. He but it's neck to make sure it was dead. He then barrier it and moved on. He kept walking light on his paws. He heard small feet on the ground and saw a mouse a couple fox lengths away. He crept closer to it going into a hunters crouch. He pounced and did one last blow to finish it off. He quickly barrier it and licked his paw. He started to walk around more sniffing the air. He heard a bird call and quickly followed its scent. The bird was on a low branch of a tree. Pinepaw crouched down and started to move towards it but then the wind changed direction and it gave him away, he pounced at the branch but before he could attack the bird it flew away "Mouse dung!" He said. He started to be more cautious, he spotted a mouse and he crept towards it. He checked which way the wind was blowing then started to creep up to it again. He pounced and finished it off with a blow he barried it and kept searching for more prey. He sat down and took a breathe. He spotted another bird im going to catch it this time he thought to himself. He went down into a crouch and started to creep up to it, he placed each paw down carefully making sure the bird didn't here him. He stepped on a small twit that snapped. The bird looked around and Pinepaw stopped moving. The bird went calm again and Pinepaw crept towards it. He jumped up and pinned it to the ground before biting is neck to finish it off. He barried it with the rest of the prey he caught and sat down licking his chest.

Frozenflame silently stayed hidden as he followed Pinepaw. The warrior nodded in approval at his catches. Pinepaw had missed a bird, but he had caught four other pieces of prey so he had made up for his mistake. "Good job, Pinepaw," Frozenflame purred as he revealed himself from hiding in the underbrush. "You did well. Now all you have to do is beat me in a fight. I'll go easy on ya, so go ahead and make the first move." The mentor crouched down in a fighting stance and waited with a smile.

OOC: Sorry, but I can't remember if I thought you the battle system all the way. Do you know how to use it? It might help if you go to the battle system in the rules category. There is a chart of all the moves, how much damage and stamina everything costs, and what ranks can use them. The Battling Rules explains basic rules while battling and The Rank System will tell you how much hp and sp your cat gets. Use the apprentice one because Pinepaw is an apprentice. I suggest you at least skim over this tutorial if you haven't already.

Again, I'm sorry if I didn't explain the system to you fully yet. If you already know how everything works, then just ignore my occ. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or someone else.

OOC: Okay. Here's what I'm going to do. Since Frozenflame is an experienced warrior and one hit from him is going to knock Pinepaw out, I'm going to give him the stats and stuff of a newly appointed warrior for the sake of the assessment. He is going easy on Pinepaw anyway, so it would make sense. Sound fair enough?

IC: Frozenflame jumped into action after Pinepaw attacked him. The grey and ginger tom struck the apprentice's head with a sheathed paw, but did it lighter than he usually would for the sake of helping Pinepaw pass the assessment.

Frozenflame toppled over, breathing heavily. "Good job, Pinepaw," he mewed with a smile. "You passed your assessment. I will talk with Spottedstar about your warrior ceremony, which should be happening soon." He stood up and shook dust from his pelt. "Now that that's over, why don't you get the prey you caught and bring it back to camp?"

"Ok!" Said Pinepaw happily, he ran over to the prey he barried and picked the mice up by their tails and the bird by its wing. He walked happily towards camp eyes gleaming
