Shattered Rain's training

Rainfire padded through the territory with Shatteredpaw at his side, walking extra slow to accommodate his friends shorter legs he casually looked over and purred. "It's funny, how we're such opposites yet we are good friends. I'm too tall, you're too short. I'm not the smartest and you are very smart. And here we are, I'm your mentor now!" Fluffing out his ginger and black pelt against the morning chill he stopped in a small clearing. "What would you like to learn today?" He mewed curious.

Shatteredpaw kept his eyes trained on the ground as he walked beside his mentor. This was the first time he was out in the territory, and he couldn't help but feel a bit afraid. When they stopped at a clearing and Rainfire asked him a question, the apprentice shrugged.

Rainfire noticing his friend's body language, as he's trained himself to do, took it upon himself to carry the conversation without the slightest bit of awkwardness. "Excellent! Border patrol it is!" Turning and walking, a tad slower this time, he mewed. "So you know we share borders with Thunderclan and Windclan, and on our territory lies the Thunderpath. I always make it a point to go on as many border patrols as I can, so I can learn the territory by heart. Remember, the seasons change, so does the forest.Thrushstar taught me that." He purred but that was cut short as he began slowing he perked his ears for the distant rumbling of the Thunderpath. Pausing a safe distance away he surveyed the land and his apprentice, "Shatteredpaw, be wary. This is the Thunderpath and it has claimed countless lives, and it will claim countless more. If you ever must cross it, don't hesitate, and keep your wits about you. Understand?" His cheery tone turned ominous and icy with disdain towards the retched place, that reeked of twolegs and burned stuff.

Shatteredpaw silently padded next to his mentor, swiftly making his way through the territory and hardly making a noise as his paws lightly stepped on the ground. The smell that flooded the tom's little black nose was unpleasant and wretched. His blue eyes stared wonder-filled at the black path as monsters screamed by. Shatteredpaw gazed at it for a long time before taking a small step towards it. He was curious about the Thunderpath...something about it called to him.

Rainfire kept close to his young friend, stepping to the edge he suppressed a shiver thinking of Thrushstar's accident. "Be careful, when the ground rumbles step back." He mewed softly

Shatteredpaw looked back at Rainfire, then stepped away from the path with a nod. He was ready to move on to the next land mark, so he flicked his thin tail.

Rainfire stood, giving a nod he led the pair off towards the dump. As they approached the vile smell of twoleg trash and rats hit his nose. Why does everything on our territory stink? Flattening his ears he padded to the metal fence and looked beyond at the piles of things, "This is where twolegs dispose of stuff, this is also where the rats are." He mewed, he knew how dangerous rats could be if you were alone.

Shatteredpaw padded up next to his mentor as Rainfire looked through the fence. The smell was disgusting, but he didn't let it effect him. I want to go in and look, he thought as his shining blue eyes took in the heaps of trash beyond the fence.

Rainfire was hesitant but he padded towards a small opening, "Come on! We can go but just a few pawsteps in. Rats will attack cats you know." He mewed calmly.

Shatteredpaw padded after his mentor and stepped into the garbage dump. Disgusting scents hit him hard and he did his best to keep his nose not scrunched up. He wasn't scared of rats because he had Rainfire with him and he knew that Rainfire would give his life for Shatteredpaw. The apprentice looked around, marveling at the heaps of twoleg scraps.

Rainfire stared at the piles of heaping trash, he muttered quietly, "I wonder what's in there? Why don't they bury this stuff like waste" He whispered, not wanting to attract rats. The tall ginger and black tom shrugged and turned to go.
