Shattered Rain

The young warrior Rainfire paced outside of the nursery, he wanted so desperately to go inside and ask Shatteredkit to play. Yet he was nervous, Why? I've played with kits before! What's so different? The ginger and black tom was confused, his normal cheery self had been quite shaken by their last meeting. Something about the blue eyed kitten intrigued him, he didn't speak. They were complete opposites, and Rainfire didn't know opposites attracted. Gathering his courage his poked his head into the cozy nursery and mewed softly, "Frostwhisper? Shatteredkit?" He mewed with confidence, yet his paws were kneading the mossy floor in nerves.


OOC~ He's going to be so sad when Shatteredkit becomes evil. Maybe later in life Shattered~ kills him or something super dramatic?

The queen stirred awake at the sound of her name, blinking open her bright green eyes. "Rainfire?" She asked groggily. "It's nice to see you. What do you need?" Frostwhsiper sat up and yawned, unraveling herself from Shatteredkit as she did so. She loved to curl up around him and sleep.

The black and white kit shivered as the warmth of his mother's body left him. He opened up his piercing icy blue eyes and looked up at Frostwhisper to see why she had uncurled herself from around him. Shatteredkit saw that she was looking at the entrance of the nursery as she spoke, so he followed her gaze to see that she was talking to Rainfire. Oh, I like him. He's nice. I'm not angry at him for disturbing my sleep. The little tom sat up and licked down his messy fur as they spoke.

Rainfire flattened his ears in embarrassment at waking them up, "I-I just was wondering if Shatteredkit could come out for a little bit. Since I promised to play with him last time." He mewed quietly. His tail tip twitched when he saw the kit poke his head out of her fluff.

Frostwhisper smiled to reassure Rainfire that she wasn't angry at him for waking her up. "Well, what do ya think Shatteredkit? Do you wanna play with Rainfire?" Frostwhisper asked her child quietly, in almost a whisper.

The kit continued to stare at Rainfire, and nodded when his mom spoke to him. Shatteredkit slowly stood up and stretched, then stepped forward. He took another step, and another, and he was soon standing in front of the warrior. His frosty blue gaze trailed up to Rainfire's face and a smile briefly passed over Shatteredkit's expression. What a rare sight! Shatteredkit...smiling! That never happened. But, as quickly as it was there, it was gone.

Frostwhisper's face lit up when Shatteredkit smiled at Rainfire. "You two go and play, I'll stay here and rest." She curled back into a ball and closed her eyes to sleep. At that moment, she realized that she could trust Rainfire with Shatteredkit's life any day.

Rainfire was in awe at the kit's gaze, when the small smile appeared. His heart leapt with excitement, happiness welled up inside if him. Nodding to Frostwhisper, "Yeah get some rest I won't keep him out long." He mewed before backing up out of the nursery, his amber gaze checking the kit every step.  Normally he'd run and bound along on his unusually long legs but with Shatteredkit he took every step carefully. Pausing he turned his sleek ginger and black head to the kit, "Would you like to play with the leaves? I did that all the time when I was a kit, I drove my mom Mousewhisker crazy." He mewed half sad about his departed mother.

Shatteredkit slowly followed Rainfire out of the nursery. The little tom shrugged at his question. Shtteredkit looked around at the camp, studying the warriors and apprentices that bustled by and the leaves covering the earth. It really was a beautiful season, and Shatteredkit liked the soft breezes that made the trees dance and the leaves sing. To him, it was a gift from Starclan.

Rainfire noted the kittens lack of enthusiasm, "How about a tour?" He mewed hoping to see anther smile.
