Deerpaw's Patrol

Larktalon sat quietly near the entrance of camp. It was early in the day; even he was tired. However, the tom waited patiently for his new apprentice. Did Breezestar stick me with a lazy apprentice? he wondered, curling his tail around his paws. He would cuff the apprentice over the ears if he were a few more heartbeats late.

"Sorry, Larktalon!" Finally. He figured out how to convince Maplepaw and Sandpaw not to fight with each other while he was gone. They were harder to round up than fighting kits! "I-I had some stuff to deal with," He panted, nearly toppling over with exhaustion. He wasn't exactly in the mood for a battle or such, but a patrol should take his mind off the topic. Maybe mine too dunno

Larktalon watched Deerpaw with confusion, twitching his whiskers as he noticed the exhausted look of the tom. "Stuff to deal with? Were you running in circles?" He stood up, chuffing in amusement. Whatever it was his apprentice was doing, it was going to hinder his performance. "We'll start by patrolling the Highpine. I don't want to see you getting lazy. If you have time to do other things, you have time to do your apprentice duties." He unsympathetically flicked his tail in the tom's face before trotting toward the exit of camp. Deerpaw would have to learn to push himself. There would be many hardships in his life. He would have to put the Clan before those things, however.

It was a little bit embarrassing to hear Larktalon chuckle at his difficulties, but he remained cool and collected. He nodded at the patrolling. He always enjoyed it, even in the hardest of times, but he felt his body growing warmer. Is that an insult? Why does he think I'm lazy? He wondered sadly. And crossly. He was pretty angry at Larktalon for insulting him so soon - on their first day of training! He followed Larktalon to wherever he was leading his apprentice, but ended up narrowing his eyes darkly with defeat.
