Foxfang's Elder Ceremony

Spottedstar climbed Highrock as the sun peaked at midday. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" She called as usual. However, this day's meeting would bring a different ceremony than normal.

And of course, the tomcat padded out of the warrior's den for what would be the last time. He would have never expected he, of all his siblings, to live long enough to grow old. This should have been complete "foxdung" as the kids said these days. Foxfang gazed up at Spottedstar in anticipation.

Robinflight waited for the ceremony to begin from the side of the clearing, aware the she and the old tom were vaguely related. She glanced up at her mother, who was even older than Foxfang. Just how old was she? Robinflight mused silently to herself.

Miles' ears perked with interest. He'd heard talk of a new elder joining the two already there. He was thankful; maybe the crazy she-cat that occupied the other side of the elders' den would leave him alone and stop trying to tear him to bits.

old as fawk Spottedstar looked down at the tom who stepped forward farther than the rest of the Clan. "Foxfang," She began, "is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?"

Grey eyes locked with amber ones. He couldn't go back after this. "It is." It was strange to think his own grandmother would be performing his elder ceremony. The world sure was an odd place.

She dipped her head slightly in acknowledgement to his answer. "Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest." Spottedstar jumped from the rock and rested her muzzle on his forehead.
