Taking Leave

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move through the territory as quietly as he used to. His paws were fixed to the ground. Oh how he wished to climb them as he once did moons ago, but he knew he would fall. With Leafbare coming on fast paws, his stay in Skyclan had come to an end. With so little cats left, a useless cat like him would only make them starve. So he left. Although his pace was slow, his pawsteps were deliberate. He would return to his kithood home, the harsh land of Twolegplace, and live out his days knowing a kit would live on the prey he would have never eaten.

The Siemese cat fled through the area, searching wildly for herbs. He smelled and smelled, then stopped when he smelled a cat. "Who's there! Talk now or forever hold your peace!"


OOC: Shortness and stupid

Maplecloud's ears pricked at an unfamiliar voice. "Just a passing cat,"he murmured, voice soft but creaky. He tasted the air, not recognizing who this was. A hoarse cough shook him. "You?"

Eagle blinked in disbelief. "I'm gathering herbs. Why do you ask?" He snarled at the much older cat, "We don't take kindly to cats that don't belong to our Clan..."

"Clan.." he began to mutter. He knew for sure there were only five clans.. what was this cat talking about? They smelled of twolegplace, as well as other cats. Had some gathered to form a type of proto-clan?

Maybe this would be just the thing he needed. He was a trained warrior, but he certainly didn't look the part. Maplecloud stepped out to view this strange character, as well as allow them to see him. "I don't think you'll have much trouble with me," came a laughing purr that ended in a cough. Oh yes, how in this moonlight large bare patches of skin shone and the glassy eye glittered. To a kitten he was a terrifying sight, but, to a warrior, he seemed downright pitiful.

Eagle stared, a disgusted expression crawling onto his face. "Well, uh...I...don't suppose...you'd like to join, would you..?"

Maplecloud barely twitched at the disgusted look. Although he did blink at the sudden suggestion. He hadn't really expected it to happen just like that, but he was sure he couldn't pass a test anyway. "And your... clan would be fine taking me in?"

The mangled tom thought for a moment. "What's your name, son?" Another wheezing cough. 'Could I change my name?' he wondered. Surely Maplecloud didn't fit him anymore.
